What Hunter’s Bringing on her 18 Month Church Mission

If you didn’t know, Hunter will be serving an 18-month mission for our church (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints), and she starts NEXT WEEK! My mama heart can’t handle it. It’s so bittersweet. We knew she was thinking about serving a mission. Still, she completely surprised us when she completed all the necessary paperwork/appointments herself + randomly started reading her mission call out loud to us! She’s been called to service in the Indianapolis, Indiana, mission! And besides the cold, she’s really excited to serve there + knows that is where God needs her to be! I know so many of you also have children who have served a mission, or will in the near future, so I wanted to share what she’s bringing to Indiana!

: WHAT IS A MISSION?

I’ve had people reach out asking questions about missions, so I wanted to give a quick explanation. In our church, young women and young men have the opportunity to serve full-time missions beginning at age 18. Boys typically go for 2 years, and girls for 18 months. They do not choose where they get to serve, but it can be anywhere in the world. They leave behind school, dating, jobs, hobbies, and dedicate themselves to inviting others to come unto Christ. They teach about the Savior, serve the communities, and spend their days studying and sharing the gospel. It’s such a selfless decision, and I know Hunter is going to be blessed for her sacrifice. I know she’s going to bless so many lives by sharing Christ’s love, and I know she will return home strengthened, changed, and shaped by her service. Fun fact: Joe served a mission many years ago in Orlando, FL, and he absolutely loved it! You can read more about missions and missionaries here.

: DRESSES/CLOTHES

First, I wanted to share the suitcases we bought for her in cherry red (carry-on and a big one). They are our favorite brand that we’ve used for years. The quality is so good!

When you get your mission call, the church also sends you information about the mission and a packing list. Obviously, every mission is different depending on the climate, etc. Missionaries are required to wear dresses or dress pants, the majority of the time. So we had fun picking out everything for her. We found a ton of good items from Bohme, which has tons of darling staple pieces that are modest and garment-friendly. Linking all the clothes she’s bringing HERE!

: SHOES

She’s definitely packing minimal so she’s only bringing a few pairs of shoes…. a boot, an everyday shoe, a workout shoe, and some flip flops. She needs a good boot that will withstand the winter/snow, so we bought these boots. The reviews are great! The quality is sturdy, and they will go with everything she wears. We also ordered these darling Doc Marten shoes that she can wear with anything. They are so cute with ruffle socks, too!

indiana is so lucky to get her!

: OTHER ITEMS

All the extra random items she needs, we got from Amazon. Things like a bathroom bag, stitch gun, nail clippers, earplugs, sewing kit, pill box, etc. She is also bringing her favorite digital camera so she can take pictures for memories! To see everything we ordered, click here.

I also set up a “missionary binder” for her. It has recipes, workouts, her patriarchal blessings, shot records, and special letters in it. Basically, it’s just a way to keep everything organized with things that will help her throughout her mission.

. . .

Thank you for all the love + support! I’ll be sure to share about her adventures in Indiana while she’s gone!

The Story of How Joe and I Met

With it being Valentine’s week, I thought it might be fun to get a little personal and share how Joe and I met! I always love hearing people’s stories and what brought them together. With this being the day we celebrate the ones we love most, I thought it was the perfect time to share ours!

outfits linked

Joe and I met when we were 12! His family moved to St. George right down the street from us when we were in middle school. The first time I saw him, we were walking home from the bus stop, and he had curly hair, and I remember having the strongest impression, “You are going to marry him.” I hadn’t even talked to him! I never told a soul about that until my wedding day, and I finally told my mom. It was so fun living down the street from each other- we had the same friend group, and we are actually all still close!

In high school, we went on dates, but he said he didn’t want anything serious and thought we should date other people. Mind you, my entire senior year I dated as many boys as I could, and he didn’t date a single soul!

kailee wright husband

After high school, things started to get a bit more serious. About 6 months later, Joe left for Florida to serve a two-year mission for our church. You can read more about that here. While he was away, I dated a ton, finished hair school + started my full-time job as a hairstylist, started coaching the high school cheer team, bought my first truck, and traveled a lot with my girlfriends. He came home 2 years later – 10 days before Christmas, and we were married in March!!

Now here we are, almost 20 years later, with 5 kids living back in St. Georg,e where it all started. My heart is just so full! I am so thankful for Joe and the life we are living together!

That, in a nutshell, is how Joe and I met. He is the best person I could ever ask for to go through this crazy life with!

Life Update: We Broke Ground!

For a long time, I thought building a home would follow a straight line. You buy land. You draw plans. You build. You move in. Our story didn’t unfold that way. Instead, it stretched across six years, multiple lots, two spec homes, job changes, and a season where the dream wasn’t gone — just on hold. And somehow, that winding path led us exactly where we were meant to be.

st. george, ut (2023)

: WHEN EVERYTHING WAS READY, BUT WE WEREN’T

In 2020, we were convinced we were building our forever home in the Salt Lake area. We bought a lot. We hired a designer. We finalized plans. We secured permits. We were standing at the edge of breaking ground when something shifted. While everything looked right on paper, it didn’t feel right in our hearts. After a lot of conversations and reflection, Joe + I made the difficult decision to walk away. We sold the lot. It felt confusing at the time — choosing to pause when we had worked so hard to get there — but it was the first time we learned to trust timing over momentum.

salt lake lot (2020)

: ALMOST AGAIN

Not long after, we put an offer in on a second lot. We were set to close on the land when my husband received a job offer back in our hometown of St. George — the very place we had once thought we’d end up long-term. The timing was too significant to ignore. So we walked away again. Two lots. Two moments of almost-building. Two decisions that felt heavy but necessary.

moving to st. george

: PUTTING THE DREAM ON HOLD

When we moved back to our hometown, we bought a small spec home, fully expecting it to be temporary while we prepared to build. Then life happened. A hiccup in my husband’s job meant the building timeline shifted yet again. What we thought would be a short pause became an indefinite one, and we had to be honest with ourselves: this wasn’t happening anytime soon. So we made a practical decision and bought a second spec home across the street that better fit our family, believing we’d be there for years. Not because we gave up on the dream — but because we needed stability while we waited.

: WHEN “LATER” BECAME “SOONER”

Somewhere along the way, things began to change. The job situation settled. Doors opened. Conversations shifted. And slowly, what once felt far away began to feel possible again. We realized we could start sooner than we ever expected. Three years ago, we purchased the lot we’re building on now — this time with a quieter confidence. Less urgency. More peace. We moved forward carefully, knowing that forcing the timeline had never worked for us before.

: WHY THIS TIME FEELS DIFFERENT

Now, six years after we first thought we’d build, there’s dirt moving on our land. And this time, it doesn’t feel rushed or forced. It feels steady. The waiting didn’t change our family — it changed our perspective. It taught us patience, flexibility, and how to hold plans with open hands. What we thought we needed in a home shifted as life unfolded, and the house we’re building now reflects who we are today, not who we were rushing to be years ago.

our st. george lot

: THE HOUSE THAT WAITED

I don’t believe closed doors mean the wrong dream. Sometimes they simply mean the right dream at the wrong time. This home has been imagined, released, revisited, and delayed more times than I can count. But looking back, I wouldn’t change the path that brought us here. Because this house didn’t just appear when we wanted it to — it waited until everything else aligned. And now, we’re finally building.

. . .

Thank you for joining us on this crazy ride! We couldn’t do it without the support from all of you.

Valentine’s Gift Ideas: Kids + Teens

I absolutely love Valentine’s Day- it’s the perfect chance to shower our kids with love and a few fun surprises too!  So today, I wanted to share some gift ideas for your kids and teens! But first, I want to share one of our favorite Valentine’s traditions.

felt hearts

: OUR FAVORITE TRADITION

Growing up, we would make yummy treats + Valentine’s Cards for our neighbors and instead of delivering them like a normal gift, we would doorbell ditch them and leave the cards + treats on their doorstep. My sisters and I loved it! Now that I’m a parent, it’s a tradition I’ve kept going with my own family. My little people love it so much, and it’s a good way to teach them about loving and serving others. You don’t have to make it overcomplicated or anything too fancy. In busier years, we’ve delivered cookie dough or store-bought cookies instead. Don’t complicate it, just have fun with it! I actually started doing that with my kids’ Valentine’s gifts, too. I package up a little gift and some yummy treats, and doorbell ditch our own door with their Valentine’s Day surprises! It has been so fun + they love it!

My 2026 Goals

Every year around this time, I sit down and write my goals. And if I’m being honest, I usually have a lot of them. Workout goals. Work goals. Family goals. Personal goals. I always start the year feeling motivated and hopeful… and then life happens. But this year feels different. Instead of making a long list of goals this year, I’m keeping it simple and choosing one.

MY 2026 GOAL

outfits linked

Lately, I’ve been thinking about what really matters — not just the big wins, but the small efforts that really add up. I read something the other day that really stuck with me: things get better when you put in daily effort. Not a perfect effort. Not a massive effort. Just a daily effort. So this year, I’m keeping it really simple. I’m focusing on one main goal instead of ten little ones…

: PUT IN DAILY EFFORT

That’s it. Daily effort looks different depending on the day — and I think that’s what I love about it. It’s putting in that extra five minutes with my kids — even when I’m tired, getting into the gym for 15–30 minutes — even when it’s not a full workout, choosing family dinners more often than takeout, baking again — because it makes me happy, being present instead of perfect. I used to make goals like workout 45 minutes a day, gain x amount of weight, extreme work goals, etc. But I want to stop waiting for the “right time” and start doing the small things today.

It’s not about perfection or checking every box. It’s about showing up consistently in the areas that matter most to me. Because when I really think about it, the moments that matter most aren’t the big milestones — they’re the everyday ones. The dinners. The routines. The quiet time. The effort that no one else really sees.

So this year, I’m choosing consistency over intensity. Some days the effort will feel small — and honestly, that’s the point. A small daily effort can turn into lasting change. If I can show up a little each day — for my kids, for my health, for my home, for myself — I know that will be enough.

. . .

Here’s to a year of simple goals and steady effort. Happy New Year!

My Favorite Purchases of 2025

Last week, I shared YOUR top 10 purchases of 2025!! If you missed that, you can see all the items here. So today I wanted to share MY favorite purchases of 2025!

dress + shoes

FAVORITE PURCHASES OF 2025

face mask + bra + oura ring + jeans + sweats + face razors + laundry solution + tank top + eye masks + vibration plate

: FACE MASK

This overnight collagen mask has been my go-to for the past few months. You put it on before bed and peel it off in the morning! It’s super thin, so it doesn’t bother me when I’m sleeping. And I wake up with my face feeling bright and hydrated!! And even better, it’s extremely affordable! This peptide serum is also from the same brand and has been on repeat for me.

: EBY BRA

This EBY bra is one of my favorite finds this year- and so many of you love it too! I refuse to wear an underwire bra, but this one has a new lining that’s so soft and supportive. It’s also seamless, and so you can’t see it through your shirt. Just trust me on this one!

: OURA RING

I was on the fence about the Oura ring for months, just because it’s so pricey. But let me tell you, it is worth EVERY penny! I honestly got so sick of wearing my Apple Watch all the time, so the Oura ring has been amazing for knowing my stress levels, sleep cycles, etc. The app is so easy to use, and I absolutely love getting to know more about myself. It comes in a ton of colors, and I love the gold!

topbottoms + shoes

: JEANS

These ankle jeans were a top seller this year, and it does not surprise me! I love that they are a light barrel, so they look flattering on any body type! The length, fray, and every detail are so good too. And I love that you can pair any shoe with them. I have the darker wash too and absolutely love them!

: ARITZIA SWEATS

I shared this Aritzia sweat set probably a 100 times this year!!!! The sweats are so soft and of amazing quality, too. And they come in TONS of color options! My girls kept trying to steal mine, so I finally got them each their own pair. They’re that good!!

: FACE RAZORS

I’ve purchased tons of face razors, and these ones are by far the best I’ve found! I use them about once a week to shave my peach fuzz, mustache, eyebrow, you name it! The razor is so smooth, and it’s seriously so satisfying. They come in a pack of 3 for under $5!!

: LAUNDRY SOLUTION

This laundry solution is freaking MAGIC! I’ve been able to get out all kinds of stains with it- pens, lipstick, markers, etc. It seriously gets everything out, and it’s the only thing I’ve found that does that! Even on dried and set stains, it will still get it out! And it smells absolutely amazing! I literally have it on a subscription, so I get a new bottle every few months.

tank + similar shorts + shoes

: AMAZON TANK

I was able to get my hands on the new sleeveless garments this year, and this is my favorite tank top that I found to work with them! I literally bought it in 6 colors. The ribbed detail is so fun, and I absolutely love the fabric of it. It’s literally under $15, and I love that it can be styled so many different ways!

: EYE MASKS

I put on these retinol under-eye masks every morning when I wake up, and they help so well with de-puffing! It’s the perfect morning pick-me-up. I also love using the caffeinated ones!

: VIBRATION PLATE

This vibration plate has quickly become my favorite part of my morning routine! I stand on it every morning for about 15 minutes while I do my morning skincare, and I feel like it just gets things moving!! It gets my blood circulating so well, and I really only feel that after I’ve walked a mile. So I feel like the vibration plate is like a quick start to get everything going. It helps drain your lymph nodes and decreases bloating, and helps you go to the bathroom, too. I don’t work out consistently, but when I do, the plate totally helps with my muscle recovery!! I just noticed that I’ve felt so much better since using it.

I’ve been using this hair oil for years, and it’s the best one out there! I put it in my ends every night before bed, so I wake up with strong + hydrated ends! I also use it after curling my hair. It instantly controls frizz, making my hair look smooth and more finished. A little goes a long way!

You guys went crazy over this protective spray– and it doesn’t surprise me! I ordered multiple cans of this protective spray, and it’s been a game-changer for keeping our shoes looking brand new. As moms, we spend a significant amount on shoes, so this spray is the perfect solution for keeping our investments looking clean and fresh. We even use the spray on the kids’ backpacks, too!

I wore these Adidas shoes all spring + summer long. The colors are absolutely darling together, and my girls always wanted to steal and wear them too. These specific ones fit true to size!

: HAT ORGANIZERS

My mom bought these hat hooks for her closet, and I had to get some too! I have tons of hats, and these hooks make them so easy and compact to store. And the best part?! They’re under $10 for a pack of 2!

: ADIDAS SAMBAS

I found these Sambas a few weeks ago, and it doesn’t surprise me that they are already a top seller. The green color matches absolutely everything, and the knit detailing is so unique and fun! They are Sambas, so be sure to size down a half size.

OUR LIFE UPDATE

: THANKSGIVING

We all know that family is my everything. It was so special to have everyone together for Thanksgiving and spend a couple of full days together. Joe hardly ever has holidays off, and this year he got the whole week of Thanksgiving off, which was just amazing. He also has the week of Christmas off, and I don’t think that’s happened for 10 years! I’m so excited to have him home with us. Both my sisters were in town for Thanksgiving, too, and I just absolutely love it when we can all be together and get the cousins together.

: KIDS UPDATE

Hunter just graduated from hair school, which is such a big accomplishment! Hair school was all day long, and she would always miss family dinner, so now she’s home and can be on the same schedule as us! She got her hair license in the mail and is starting to work in an official hair salon today, just part-time for the next few months. I’m so excited to have her home for a few months before she leaves on her LDS mission to Indiana in February! If you didn’t hear, she surprised us with her mission call for our church. We had no idea she was applying and doing all the necessary paperwork!! She’s going to be gone for 18 months and my heart can’t handle it! It’s so bittersweet…I am so extremely proud of her and grateful for the example she’s setting, but I’m going to miss her like crazy. Joe and I have been working out with Hunter every morning, and we’re heading to Phoenix this weekend for her high school/hair school graduation trip! She originally chose to go to NYC, but she realized she didn’t want to be cold- haha! So Phoenix it is.

my shirt + jeans + shoes

Hayden + Harper are about to be in the thick of cheer competitions! Their first one is in Vegas a few days before Christmas. After Christmas, it’s going to be non-stop! This is Harper’s first year, and we are so excited to watch her! She’s absolutely thriving and practicing at home any chance she gets.

Hudson is turning into a muscle man! He has goals, and he is always working towards them, which I admire so much. His goal is to put on 15lbs before baseball season, so he’s always eating and lifting weights! He has totally grown into a man, and I love getting big hugs from him! Houston just finished football, which was so fun to watch since he couldn’t play last year because of his broken finger. He starts basketball soon, so he’s excited about that!!

What I’m Actually Getting My 5 Kids for Christmas 2025

WHAT I’M GETTING MY KIDS FOR CHRISTMAS

watch + bike + books + polly bird + 3d printer + jeans + black top + grey top

: HARPER

If you know me, you know I don’t like electronics. I like to buy gifts that will keep my kids off screens! I bought this 3D printer as a gift that both she and Houston can share. They’ve been wanting one for a while now. I also got them both bikes so that they can be together outside! Along with that, I ordered Harper some of her favorite books, a few new tops for winter, this Polly Magic Bird she’s been wanting, and this Shark watch that she also asked for!

bike + game table + camo hoodie + sweats + shirt + kendama + bounce battle + lego set

: HOUSTON

I ordered this game table for all the kids to share as well!! They love playing games together, which is why I ordered this Bounce Battle game too. I also got Houston this new sweat set from Abercrombie and one of their essential t-shirts! And another Lego set that he and Hudson can do together.

electric bike + helmet + quilted bag + perfume + adidas shoes + sweats + jeans

: HAYDEN

Hayden’s main gift is the electronic bike! She is going to be so excited!! I also got her a new pair of Adidas shoes, some perfume she’s been wanting, these sweats that she always steals out of my closet, this quilted bag that comes in a ton of colors, and some new barrel jeans she can wear this winter!

shirt + shirt + wakeboard + wakeboard cover + sweats + adidas shoes + hand warmers + sunglasses

: HUDSON

Hudson is pretty easy and always wants some new clothes or anything outdoor related. He’s been loving this Essentials brand, so I ordered the sweats and a matching shirt for him. I thought these Adidas shoes would go well with everything he has. We also bought these electric hand warmers and let him customize his own Oakley sunglasses- two things he will be able to use for baseball season! Last thing is this wakeboard and wakeboard cover, since that’s one of his favorite activities in the summer to do with his friends!

dress + dress + dress + bag + coat + suitcases + shoes + necklace + journal

: HUNTER

A lot of you know that Hunter is preparing to serve an LDS mission in Indiana! She leaves end of February, so a lot of her gifts are things that she will need/use for her mission! Some new dresses, sturdy close-toed shoes, our favorite suitcases, a warm coat, this leather journal, and this crossbody bag! I also bought her this necklace since she’s always trying to steal mine!

. . .

Thank you for being here! I hope everyone has the best Thanksgiving and Christmas with their people!!

QUICK + EASY FROZEN OREO DESSERT

– INGREDIENTS –

1 package of Oreos (you could use any flavor you like, or stick to the original)

1/2 gallon of ice cream (again you could use any flavor you like, or stick to vanilla)

small jar of hot fudge (or if you are feeling fancy, make your own)

– INSTRUCTIONS –

Take your ice cream out of the freezer so it can start to soften a little bit. While that is softening, put your Oreos in a gallon-sized plastic bag and crush them into small chunks. Layer about 1/2 of your Oreos on the bottom of your 9×13 glass pan. Next, put a layer of softened ice cream over the Oreos. Now take your hot fudge and layer as much as you want over the ice cream. **I DO NOT have it heated up to avoid melting the ice cream.** Once you have your hot fudge drizzled over the ice cream, add your remaining crushed Oreos on top. Pop it in the freezer until hardened again, and you are ready to serve.

One thing I love about this recipe, besides how delicious it is, is that it is so customizable. As I mentioned, you could swap out for different flavors of Oreos or ice cream. You could also switch it up and use a different chocolate, like Reese’s or even fruit like strawberries! We hope you love it as much as we do!

Hope you enjoy! It would be the perfect dish for your friends and family during Christmas break! Another one of our favorite holiday desserts is these snowball cookies! Tag me on your Instagram story if you end up making either of these!
