I decided to start a whole series of our house details like we did with our last home! Over the next few months, I’ll be highlighting each room on the blog sharing the details, organization, and links! Today I’m sharing all the details about our pantry!
Maggie + Co was the designer for our house – she picked almost everything out! She was a HUGE reason why we bought this house because her style is so similar to ours! I got all the design details of our pantry so here you go…

Organizing my pantry brings me so much joy!! When it comes to the pantry, I like keep everything categorized, contained, and LABELED! This is my favorite label maker, but this one is also great and a more affordable option. Sharing everything I’ve used below…
Today on the blog I’m sharing how to do the “Buzz and Bleach” on boys’ hair! I’ve gotten so many questions about what I used so I wanted to put everything here where you can refer back to. Hudson loves having his head buzzed and bleached so naturally Houston wanted to do it too! Does anybody else have sons who are wanting to do this? It’s easy to do it from home, just follow the steps below!
BOYS BUZZ + BLEACH
: DISCLAIMER
Before I share the steps, I just wanted to share that the way it turns out fully depends on how dark and how light the hair is. First off, I would say just go to a professional because ultimately that’s going to be the safest. But I know a lot of boys and parents who want a buzz and bleach do not want to go to professional, so I’m sharing the professional items I use! And again, I’m not guaranteeing that it will work on everyone but I’m sharing the standard products you’ll need! I’ve been doing hair for over 20 years so I am very experienced with which products to use.
First off, buzz the hair!! We’ve used these Wahl clippers for years and love them. The biggest question I get is what number we use to buzz. I truly feel like a number two is a true buzz. This past time, we did a number 3 for Hudson and a number 4 for Houston. The reason I did number 4 is because Houston’s hair is really fine and really light so if I would’ve gone shorter on his hair, you basically would’ve been able to see his scalp because he’s super blonde already. Hudson’s hair is very dense and thick so we did a number 3. You can always start with a number 4 and then 3 and then go to number 2…. so maybe start at 4 because you can always take off more. I truly don’t feel like you don’t need to go to a professional to get buzzed, just use clippers and you’ll be good!
: BLEACH
This is the best powder to start with. It will lighten nine levels , depending on how dark your hair is. You’re gonna want to use a 20 volume, because it’s less painful on the scalp (volume 30 and 40 will start to be a little bit painful but 30 volume will lift lighter and so will 40 volume, so I would do what you think your boys can handle). I used 20 on Hudson. So just follow the directions and it’ll tell you exactly the ratios of powder and developer to mix. I use 20 volume on Hudson but he’s a level six. If you’re anything darker, like a level five or four, I would probably use 30 or 40 volume. Mix it up and make sure it’s fully saturated before you rub it on the scalp. I use a glove to rub it all in. Make sure you cover all of the scalp. Then put a shower cap on them, so the product won’t dry out. Leave it on for the time it suggests, maybe even a bit longer if you can. Here is a set that you can buy the developer and powder together.
Next, shampoo that out and then use toner. This toner is by far my favorite! It will go on purple, but it will cut out the yellow and gold color. If you leave it on too long, it will go purple, so you’ll want to follow the directions. You’ll mix the toner with a 7 or 10 developer. Then you’ll rub it on the scalp. Most times, you’ll just need to leave the toner on for about 10 minutes. If the hair is lighter, you will not need to leave the toner on as long. So again, that’s why I’m stressing the importance of reading the directions! (All the directions are on these products and of course, we’ve linked the products for you, but of course, you can purchase them at professional Beauty supplies as well, but you’re gonna have to have a beauty license).
Be sure to use a purple shampoo! The purple shampoo helps make sure the gold/yellow color doesn’t come back. But to be clear, the purple shampoo does not wash your hair so you’ll want to use a normal shampoo AND then a purple shampoo. You don’t need to leave it on for very long. Rinse out your regular shampoo and then apply the purple shampoo. I just tell Hudson to leave the purple shampoo in while he washes his body, then rinse it out.

I bought this glass jar for the basement shelves to keep candy and stuff in there for the kids! I loved the look of it.

After sharing my french toast whiskey hack from yesterday, I got flooded with people wanting the recipe! This french toast is SO good and SO easy! Sharing all the ingredients and instructions below!
-THE BEST FRENCH TOAST INGREDIENTS-
(I honestly just eyeball the ingredients. For my family, I fill up our mixer a little over halfway with all the ingredients)
combine everything into your mixer and BLEND!! blending it is the KEY!
pour mixture into your pan + add a little more cinnamon
dip your bread into the mixture, make sure it’s fully covered
place piece of bread on griddle and cook both sides of bread
-TOPPING IDEAS-
any fruit (we love strawberries)
buttermilk syrup
powdered sugar
nutella or cookie butter
sometimes we add icing on ours, it’s a sugar rush but so so good! one cup powdered sugar and about 3 tablespoons of milk (depending on the consistency you want)

The girls went to their first SUMMIT competition! The Summit is an end-of-season championship for athletes to compete against the best in the world. The Summit takes place at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Florida in Disney World! It’s three days of back-to-back performances. The girls team made it to the second day! Which was huge for such a new team.
The trip was an absolute blast, but also completely exhausting! We went to 3 of the Disney parks- Animal Kingdom, Magic Kingdom, and EPCOT! Thank you for everyone’s recommendations. I’m not a huge Disney fan, but we really had so much fun together. We found out on this trip that Harper is not a huge roller coaster fan! So while the big girls ended up doing the big rides, Harper and I ended up at the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique. She got her makeup and hair done and got to wear her Jasmine costume! She said this was the best day of her entire life! It was definitely a core memory for me too. If you have the chance, I highly highly recommend doing this with your daughters!
Last cheer season just ended and a new season is beginning!! The girls both have all-star tryouts the next few days and will get their new placements next Sunday. Both girls want to move up a level (which is pretty rare) but they have been working so hard. Hunter‘s toe is still broken but healing nicely. She has been able to tumble or jump for the last month and has two more weeks that she has to stay off her foot. To say she’s going crazy is an understatement. She is so ready to get back into the groove.
School gets out in 2 weeks!!! My kids are literally on the countdown. We’re all on the countdown. We just got the boat serviced and ready so hopefully we will be going out on the lake this weekend! The kids are ecstatic, that’s all they’ve talked about. I’m so ready for slower days and having all my kids home.
Harper her first dance recital this Saturday! She’s seven I had my first dance recital when I was three and so did Hunter but it’s okay because she’s the baby and we’ve waited haha! Hudson is telling me that he is going to shave his head on the last day of school. It might happen this weekend, so we’ll see how that goes. Houston wants to shape his head so the boys think they’re shaving their heads, but who knows they’re still in baseball. We’ve only got like a couple more tournaments this summer, but things have slowed down, which is so nice already.
Remember the house we first bought when we moved to St. George? Well, we finally sold it! It’s such a blessing and a huge relief to have done and over with. So now we just have the house that we live in which is coming together slowly! If you want any of the house links I’ve shared so far, you can find those here. We still have the lot by my parents but honestly, Joe and I are just so exhausted. We do not want to even think about another house right now so that’s on the back burner until whenever we decide, so we’re in no rush.

We had such a fun trip with our residency friends in Cabo last weekend! I’ve been getting a lot of questions about our trip so I wanted to recap everything here on the blog!
We met EIGHT other couples in Cabo last weekend and it was a blast! We all met years ago in California when we were in medical school + residency and became like family. We experienced the hardest times of our lives together… miscarriages, deaths in the family, adoption and more. Before everyone moved away, I shared the idea to try to get together once a year for a trip, and we’ve been doing it for 7 years now! Every other year we do a family trip with all the kids, and every other year we do a couples trip! With some 40th birthday trips with all the girls mixed in between.
We pick the same weekend in April every year so everyone knows to get the weekend off, usually it’s a Thursday to Sunday. We get two full days together, which doesn’t feel like enough but with our schedules that’s just how it works best. It’s a miracle that we were able to get all nine couples together from all over the country!
We stayed at a private residence, and they don’t rent it out so I can’t share the house link. But the house was on Diamante Resort and it was amazing! The resort had a lagoon where you could paddle board, ride motor boats, kayak, etc. They also had a wipeout course that we all did and it was so much fun! It would be a great place for families. It was only 30 minutes from the airport and the service was amazing!
The house came with a house manager, and we also hired a personal chef who made us breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The chef was Albert Martinez, provided by Kreaccion Los Cabos. Their email is ventas@kreaccion.com.mx if you are ever interested in hiring them! We had some groceries delivered and then the chef bought and prepared everything we needed for meals! We told him what foods we were wanting, and he made up the menu. They also made the yummiest drinks too! They were a dream to work with and it was like we were at a hotel, but we had the privacy of our own home.
Honestly, we didn’t care to go out and do too much. We just wanted to spend time together and catch up! Joe woke up the third day and said his abs were sore from laughing so hard! We spent one day at the lagoon doing the wipeout course and paddleboarding and that was so fun for everyone! We also hired a masseuse that came to the house! The house had a massage room, so that was great. We hired Adele’s Mobile Spa and they were amazing!
One night we went on a boat dinner cruise, and it was amazing! The boat tour was with Tu Enamorado Tours so if you’re ever in Cabo, definitely check them out! I’ve been on a few dinner boat cruises, and this one was more relaxing than others I’ve been on. The whole boat was cushioned and had extra pillows and blankets. We were served a steak dinner and ate “picnic style”. Which was really fun. There was no entertainment, and we don’t drink any alcohol, it was just so low-key and we really enjoyed it.

Joe + I are getting ready to head to Cabo to celebrate our 20th anniversary and we are so so excited! We were supposed to go to Bora Bora, but with the move and everything going on it just didn’t happen.
