Are your kids the crafty type? The kind that are always begging to create, color, draw, or anything hands on?! Mine absolutely LOVE a good crafty project. Whether it is bracelet making, playdoh creations, or painting crafts are a favorite around our house!! As messy as it can be, I love seeing their imaginations and creativity develop through the projects they create! Whether they’re crafting for a school project or just for fun, we love to keep a good stash of our favorite art supplies, so that they can easily create whatever they need.  The task of organizing all of it can seem daunting! So today I’m sharing a few of our favorites PLUS some ways to keep them organized and accessible!

First up let’s talk favorite crafts! You will notice this list steers clear of all things glitter and slime!! I am a firm believer you can still be creative and crafty without bringing disaster items into your house! So with that in mind, these our our top favorites!

kailee wright amazon favorites

: BRACELET KITS

These became a quick favorite for us (and a lot of people) during quarantine. The possibilities are endless! I love that they are fun for my older kids and me too it is something we all can do together! Houston especially loves making these and as you can see by his stack he is getting so good at them! This kit is our favorite! I love that it comes in a clear organized case to keep things simple and streamlined for easy organization, even for his young age, and you don’t have to buy something else to organize it in.

: PAINT DOTTERS

We have had these paint dotters for years and I love them so much!! They are such a great “less mess” option to painting, and toddler friendly. I love that they are chunky for little hands to grip easily, have a variety of colors, and are open ended so it is all about their imagination and what they want to create. And if you are going to grab them, grab some of these art smocks as well. They keep you worry free from any accidental messes for crafts or even snacks!

: LACING CARDS

These lacing cards are one of my favorite (super easy to store) crafts to have around the house. As you can see they are completely mess free, which makes them great for car rides too! I love that it is working on fine motor skills, but fun and creative too with the different shapes and animals.

: PLAYDOH

Playdoh is such a classic craft to have around your house and one we have loved for years and years. I love that you don’t need a bunch of extra accessories to worry about storing. You can use kitchen tools, toy cars, anything their imagination comes up with.

: PAINT BY STICKER BOOKS

These sticker books were another great quarantine find and one the whole family loves! They are great to have to keep kids entertained in the car, or at restaurants or church where they need to keep quiet. I even find myself wanting to do them all the time too!

Now let’s talk arts + crafts organization. I think the biggest key to this is actually to keep it simple!! You want the organization to be simple enough that your kids, who are the ones primarily accessing the crafts, to be able to replicate your organization and keep it up!! Here are a couple tips to keep in mind!

: CATEGORIZE

As you can see in these images, I like to organize our crafts by category. That way, if the kids ask to do playdoh for example, I am only getting out one box, not sorting though different areas to find all the supplies. We have categories like playdoh, lacing cards, beads, crayons, paint dotters, etc. You can customize it to work for your family and what crafts you use together.

: CLEAR BINS + LABELS

When it comes to organizing a kids space like crafts, clear bins are a must. Toddlers aren’t going to be able to read all the labels, so being able to see where things go is key. I love the look of clear bins with labels too because they are clean, simple, and give the space a uniform look.

: OUT OF SIGHT, OUT OF MIND

Last but not least is placement in your space. If there are certain things you’d rather not give your kids easy access to (think markers, paint, glue) keep those stocked higher where they will need moms help to use. Other crafts you don’t mind them being independent with (think lacing cards, sticker books) put at their reach so they can play on their own whenever. Just like the pantry, keeping things user friendly and knowing your audience (your kids!) is key!

Spring shoes are one of my favorites to shop for, so today I’m rounding up a bunch of my favorites to share with you!

Kailee Wright Spring Shoes

red flip flops + similar  |  tan studded  |  tan slides + similar  |  black studded  |  clear rhinestoned

: TAN SLIDES

These tan slides are the perfect everyday spring shoes, and were my go to last spring/summer. Super comfortable, easy to thrown on, and go great with jeans and a graphic tee or a cute spring dress. And you can’t beat the price at under $20!

: BLACK STUDDED

I LOVE a good sandal that is super versatile, and this one checks all the boxes. First, it is classic black so it goes with just about everything. The plastic material makes it great for the beach or pool because its waterproof. And that hint of glam makes it easy to dress up for dinner too. These are my go to for travel because you can pack one shoe and check off all the boxes!

: RED FLIP FLOPS

I have had a pair of these sandals for years and years and loved every single one. While the price tag is much higher than the others, your per wear price will be beyond worth it. Just like the sandals above, these are a great versatile shoe that is lightweight and easy to dress up or down. Plus it comes in so many fabulous colors!!

: CLEAR RHINESTONE

I just got these last week, and if you could’t tell by my Instagram, I am OBSESSED!! I love the  neutral color way that makes them go with literally everything. Having no straps to deal with them makes them super comfortable too. If you don’t already own a pair of Steve Madden Sandals, these or the next option need to be your pick!

: TAN STUDDED

And last but not least, are one of my most worn shoes ever. These were for sure my sandal of 2020. They are just so good. Again they check all the boxes of versatile, neutral, and comfortable so they are another great option to take on vacation to help save on packing space!! I love that they look so good with jeans but just as great dressed up too!

5 Tips For Storing Kids Clothing

Kailee Wright kids closet organization

hat  top  |  jeans  |  grey baskets

If you are growing your family, you know what a time and money saver it can be to recycle your children’s clothing for the next one.  Especially in the baby stages, they grow out of things so quickly that most clothing only gets a few wears anyway.  But saving baby and children’s clothing for another child poses the task of storage.  So today I’m sharing a few tips + tricks to storing kids clothing to help your home organization up!

Before you make a plan for storing kids clothes, take into consideration a few things. First, how quickly are you planning on adding another child to your family? If you don’t have plans to or its going to be a ways down the road, your storage options are going to be much more long term. Another question to consider is if you have the space to store the items as well.

Storing your kids clothes for the future  may not be for everyone, but it certainly is a cost-effective way to clothe and care for multiple children! If you’re ready to store and save, here are my top five tips for making sure it is as useful as possible!

kailee wright storing kids clothes

under the bed storage bins:  here  |  here  |  here + here

: CONDITION MATTERS

Hand-me-downs get a bad rap, especially if they look like hand-me-downs.  The way I make sure that my younger children are excited and feel like they are getting new clothes like their older siblings is by making sure that anything that is saved is in like-new condition.  This means it cannot have stains, stretches, fading, or tears.

: BUY QUALITY

When buying clothing for any of our children, I’ve learned that buying quality is key (but not always).  I feel like there have been years when my kids are in a new size of clothing every three months and so to be able to keep up with that can be pretty pricey, especially if you’re buying high quality items.  But I think that it’s important to choose pieces that are built to last, especially if you’ll be saving them for multiple children.

It should be noted that I don’t think it’s important to buy expensive pieces for babies.  Because they grow so quickly, there really isn’t opportunity for the clothing to get overly used anyway so it’s easier to save for another.  I’d recommend considering this route after the size 2T:

Buy To Last:

  • Jeans and Denim
  • Dresses
  • Nice Shirts
  • Coats
  • Hats
  • Shorts and Skirts
  • Sunday Clothing

May Not Last:

  • Pajamas
  • Socks
  • Leggings
  • T-shirts
  • Loungewear

kailee wright storing kids clothes

some of my favorite weatherproof bins

: WEATHERPROOF BINS

Once you’ve gone through the clothing your child has gone out of and made sure that what you’re keeping is in great condition, I’d recommend folding clothing carefully and placing it all in weatherproof bins.  Whether you’ll be keeping the clothing in or outdoors, it likely won’t be touched for at least 1-2 years so it makes sense to make sure that the bin you use will not be affected by elements.  You can even place mothballs or anti-deterioration products inside the bin for added safety.

: LABEL EVERYTHING

You know how I feel about labels! Make sure you can easily see from the outside what size of clothing and what gender (if applicable).  This makes it much easier to pull what you need and not go through unnecessary bins.

: STORE SHOES SEPARATELY

Depending on how wild your kids are in their shoes, my boys can tend to destroy their sneakers, you may or may not be saving shoes for the next child.  I’d recommend making sure they’re in good condition and storing them in their own weatherproof bin.  Because it’s not apples to apples that a child will fit in the same size clothing and shoes as the last, this is the best option I’ve found to easily store clothing and shoes.

Amazon Favorite Finds

Kailee Wright Packing Hawaii

Oh Amazon. What did we ever do without your convenient 2 day shipping? You have really brought retail therapy to a whole new level!! I’ll be honest, for years and years I was more of a tech + toys Amazon buyer. I was completely unaware of how amazing the FASHION was too and now that I’ve been introduced I can’t stop! From amazing swimsuits + sandals to some of my favorite jeans + dresses, they have stepped it up in all categories!! I love seeing what other people find and love from Amazon so today I’m sharing a roundup of my favorite finds over the last couple of months, PLUS a couple things I have my eye on!

Kailee Wright Packing Hawaii

my shorts  |  cardigan  |  hat  |  similar bag  |  similar sunglasses

: DENIM SHORTS

These shorts were actually an Amazon Fashion find from a few years ago that I love so much I just ordered another pair for this season. The length is great to throw over a swimsuit and have enough coverage that you aren’t showing any cheeks, but still keep it short. And the distressing gives it such a cute look!

kailee wright Amazon lulu tank

my tank leggings + similar dupe

: WORKOUT TANK

It is no secret how much I love the align tank from lululemon. It is the cutest cut and I love the built in bra so you don’t feel like you are wearing 100 layers to workout. You could say I have a very high bar for beating it, so when my girlfriend sent me the link for this Amazon dupe I was very skeptical. While I won’t go as far as saying it beats the lululemon option, for under $20 it is an AMAZING buy, and I grabbed it in a couple colors! It comes in 25 colors/patterns so you’re sure to find one that fits your style!

kailee wright Amazon favorites

razor

: TINKLE RAZOR

I’m not going to lie, when I first heard about “shaving your face” as a woman, I thought people were straight up crazy!! But once I was guaranteed I wasn’t going to have a beard after, and tried it for myself, I was BLOWN away. Your skin looks and feels amazing, and your makeup goes on incredibly well. I promise once you try it you will be hooked! And these razors are the best option and price you will find!

kailee wright Amazon swimsuit

: SWIMSUIT

Summer is just around the corner and I cannot wait!!! Give me all the long sunshine filled days! Finding the perfect swimsuit is not an easy task, but Amazon has been killing it with the good finds lately. I shared this darling one piece last month and it is still one of my favorites! For my trip to Arizona with Joe I grabbed this one and could not love it more. The bottoms are nice and high with great bum coverage. And the top is adjustable to give you a more custom fit. Plus you can’t beat that pop of pink right?! If pink isn’t your jam, it comes in 20 other color options!

kailee wright amazon favorites

flip flops

: FLIP FLOPS

Speaking of Summer and warmer temps, flip flops are also a must have!! My summer go to shoe is a good quality flip flop that is comfortable but doesn’t break the bank and this Amazon find is just that! Under $15 and a few different great neutral color options to choose from!

Kailee Wright Toilet paper wire baskets

harper’s top + shorts  ||  round basket + square basket + towels

: KIDS FASHION

Amazon hasn’t just stepped it up for Women’s Fashion, the kids options have been amazing too, especially when it comes to great basics!! I love these tops for Harper. Super soft with a little stretch so she is comfortable, and that little ruffle detail dresses it up a little bit. These shorts have been a Harper staple for a couple years because they are that good!! They come in a 3 pack for under $20 and have a bunch of great color options!

kailee wright Amazon jeans

my jeans  |  top

: JEANS

Last but not least are these jeans! I saw my friend Jenica share them on Instagram and loved them so much I instantly added to my cart. They are a great high waisted fit with a little distressing but not too overwhelming. I love the fit of them being a little looser in the leg but still snug on the bum. Such a great basic jean for under $50!

5 Tips for Saving Hanger Space

Kailee Wright Master Closet

similar top  |  jeans  ||  harper’s bow + moccs  ||  hangers

Tis the season for spring cleaning and today we’re talking about closet space.  Have you ever tried to find a top or a jacket in a jam-packed closet?  It’s like pulling teeth!  Even the crowded clothing racks at stores stress me out.  I love to be able to easily find what I need, when I need it.  No frustration necessary.

We can’t talk about having a clean, easy-to-navigate closet without first talking about only keeping things that you use and love.  Here are a few questions I think may help you determine what to keep and what not to keep:

  • Is this in good condition?  No holes, tears, tatters, or fading.
  • Does this item fit me right now?
  • Is this something I will definitely wear in the next 3 months?
  • Is this something I love?
  • Would I repurchase this item?

Keeping only items that are in good condition, fit our bodies, and that we love will automatically create a curated closet that you love walking into rather than one you dread.  And this makes it easier to put clothing away, to find what you need, overall it is an amazing time saver!  So, first things first, go through your closet and do a donate/trash purge.

Next, let’s talk about my five hacks to keep your hanger space clean and easy to navigate!

Kailee Wright Master Closet

: FOLD, DON’T HANG YOUR JEANS

Hanging pants and other thicker heavy fabric items on hangers can create a lot of unnecessary bulk between your hangers. If you have the space, I recommend folding and stacking on a shelf or keeping in a drawer.

Kailee Wright Master Closet

: SKIRT HANGERS

If you’re the type that loves to hang your pants or skirts, but need to save space, try snagging a few of these stacking hangers. These work great for those pieces so that you can layer up on space and easily find what you need with ease.  If you prefer to keep the flow with one cohesive look, you can hang your skirts through the hanger.

Kailee Wright Master Closet

: MATCHING HANGERS

This may seem like a no-brainer, but having multiple different types of hangers can actually create quite a bit of chaos when it comes to your hanging clothing.  Wire hangers mixed with plastic mixed with ones with clips, can make your clothing easily tangled and hanging at different levels.  An easy fix is to use the same type of hanger for all of your hanging clothing! It may not seem like a big deal but this will make a world of difference when it comes to your closet!

Kailee Wright Organizing Your Closet

: WORKOUT CLOTHING

Are you hanging your workout clothing?  If so, I’d opt for a few of the stacking hangers for things like leggings or even sports bras! If not, I would opt to keep these all in one drawer so that you can easily put outfits together. File fold your sports bras, workout tops, leggings, shorts, and even workout socks or undies so that you can grab and go without using extra hangers.

Kailee Wright Master Closet

: STORE SEASONAL CLOTHING

If  you’re living in a climate where you experience a variety of seasons, a great way to keep your closet clean and simple is to store away clothing that is out of season but that you are keeping for the next season.  Clothing that fits this bill (winter coats, sweaters, swimsuits, rain boots, etc.) are a perfect item to store in under the bed containers so that you don’t need to worry about the elements of cold or outside storage.

We Bought A Lot

kailee wright moving

my top + leggings + boots + sunglasses

Surprise! We bought a lot!! Cue all the emotions possible!! We are so excited and happy and sad and nervous and ALL THE THINGS at once! But we know this is the right choice for our family and can’t wait to take you along!! So what better way to kick it off then to give you the behind the scenes details of why we are moving and what it took to get the lot we love!

kailee wright moving

: THE BACK STORY

2020 was a crazy time for us, as I’m sure it was for all of you. In early 2020 we took a couples trip with my family to Hawaii. While we were there, I just felt such a pull that we needed a change for our family. Some kind of new adventure or fresh start and I couldn’t shake it. I told Joe about it and while he thought I was crazy, he didn’t totally shut me down. We started considering our options. We even looked up job openings for him in Hawaii, (which we found one!) and our hometown of St George.  And then the pandemic hit and things got trickier.

We had been in Utah and at Joe’s current job long enough that we needed to start making more long term decisions. The decision needed to be made to buy in to the current practice and settle down long term, or find our future area to make a more permanent home.

When we built our current home, we loved the lot. Our house is in a cul de sac and the property behind us was city owned, which meant NO backyard neighbors. We LOVED that privacy, but it was short lived. Those have now been sold and a spot we once loved is not checking off as many of our dream boxes anymore. Our house itself was also something we designed ourselves. And while we love so much of it, we were not professionals and there are a lot of things that could’ve been done better in order to fit our families needs, especially as our kids are growing up.

kailee wright moving

: FINDING THE RIGHT LOT

If the pandemic didn’t make the rest of life crazy enough, it for sure did when it came to finding the right lot. If you know the Utah housing market right now, it is basically pure insanity. Lots and houses for sale are pretty much non-existent and sell within hours of being listed. Pair that up with having very specific needs/wants on our list, and it definitely took some time, but we felt like it was the plan we needed to go with and started looking in August.

Now rewind a little back to when we first moved back to Utah and we were in our rental while we built our current house. A friend reached out to us and said he had the perfect land for us. We blew him off because we had just bought our current lot and were still building! Fast forward to August and that land he had mentioned was still available. In my mind it wasn’t where I wanted to live so even though I agreed to go check it out, I went into it with a bad attitude.

Driving home from seeing it I had the most distinct feeling that this was the one. Nobody can ever build behind us. It is expansive and spacious enough for us to grow in and build the home we want. My dream of having chickens and a cow are possible! Yes, I’m so serious and yes my people think I’m crazy!! haha. We are close to trails and the mountains to play and explore in. And the more family/friends we showed it to, the more they agreed and excited we got.

It took a lot of back and forth and what felt like endless paperwork and negotiating, but it is finally ours and we cannot wait!!

: HOW DOES EVERYONE FEEL ABOUT MOVING?

Every single one of us have so many mixed emotions. We LOVE our current neighbors so much and they have become some of our dearest friends. Our current proximity to the schools, grocery stores, church, and restaurants is so convenient and will be a big adjustment in our new area. The kids get so excited about the change and the excitement of a new adventure, but just like any kid when they think of moving away from friends and their lives right now, there are sad and hard emotions there too. But the pros are all there too. The space and area are something we are so excited for. It is much closer to Joe’s work, which gives us more Joe time that we are always missing. Change is always hard, but we know we are strong and resilient and this is right for our family.

: WHAT DOES THE TIMELINE LOOK LIKE?

We felt a rush to buy the land and get that all under contract. But the build itself will be a process. We want to make sure we think out things as far as space planning and growing kids! Right now we have FOUR kids sharing ONE bathroom! We are hoping to break land in early Fall. But if you’ve built before you know how long things take and usually things are always behind. We are thrilled to be working with Elizabeth Hales on the build and design.

kailee wright moving

: WILL YOU BE SHARING ALL THE DETAILS?

YES!!! 100%! One of my favorite things about this community and this space is interacting with you and sharing what we love. This will be no exception. We will keep you in the loop from the design process, from the ground up – all the way until move in day and cannot wait!

. . .

I hope this helps fill you in a little more on the back story and first steps of this new adventure for our family. The kind comments and excitement filling our comments and direct messages is overwhelming! We feel so grateful to have this community supporting us and along for the ride!

How to Spring Clean Your Bathroom

Kailee Wright spring clean your bathroom

similar top  |  similar jeans  |  belt  || hayden’s tank + similar shorts

Doing a little happy dance over here because I love Spring Cleaning. I realize how silly that sounds, but you guys know me by now. Give me all things cleaning + organization. I love to enlist the family to tasks that will make our home feel as though it’s been deep cleaned, emptied of anything that doesn’t belong, and just a little brighter and shinier than usual.  Do you know what I mean?  Spring cleaning is the best! And we are starting with the bathroom!

Getting on your hands and knees to scrub grout or on tall ladders to dust light fixtures is no everyday chore so it’s important for my mind to plan ahead what needs to be done, how long it will take, and who will be doing it.  Bathroom cleaning can contain some icky surfaces and possibly stronger cleaning products than are used in other parts of our home, so I like to plan ahead to assign tasks like that to my bigger kids or the adults.

Kailee Wright spring clean your bathroom

: TOP TO BOTTOM

I think it’s important in any cleaning scenario that you work from top to bottom.  This prevents any hard work done in one area to be undone by cleaning another.  Starting with the walls + ceilings, and work your way down to shower doors, tub floors, cabinets, and tile. This will ensure that things stay clean as you go, instead of just transferring the mess.

: TAKE NOTE OF EXTRA DIRTY SPOTS

If you notice that you are really having to scrub in certain areas or that things are more dirty than you might expect, take note of that spot.  Let’s see if there is something that you can do on a weekly or biweekly basis to keep that area in tip-top shape.  This might be adding it to your weekly or monthly cleaning list, or making it a more regular chore for one of your kids.

: LET IT AIR OUT

Depending on your own cleaning style and personal preferences, bathroom cleaners can be strong.  Make sure that you are opening any windows available and letting the air vent run while you clean.

Check out my checklist below for a more step by step look at the process to ensure you get everything squeaky clean!

Kailee Wright Master Bathroom

– THE PROCESS –

: AIR VENTS + INTAKES: Remove, wash, and replace

: CABINET FRONTS: Wipe down.

: CLEAN OUT DRAWERS + CABINETS: Remove everything. Purge anything not useful or broken. Replace products in an organized way that is most efficient/functional for your needs.

Fun Easter Basket Ideas for All Ages

I swear this year is just flying right by! Can you believe we are already so close to Easter?! I am not complaining at all because Spring and Summer are my absolute favorite time of the year. Bring on all the sunshine!! Easter is one of my favorites for that very reason! We love getting outside together and the fun holidays that bring us together with family like Easter. Easter Baskets are one of my favorite gifts to put together, because I love to fill them with things to prep for the upcoming spring and summer! Since I’ll be filling an Easter basket for everyone from toddlers to teens, I thought I’d share some of my favorite Easter Basket ideas with you!

When it comes to filling an Easter Basket, I tend to do things a little different than most. I am not all about the toys, and if you know me less is always more. SIMPLIFY in all things! Haha! This applies to my Easter Baskets too. My favorite things to include are things they already need but can double as a gift, and things that we can do together as a family or they can do with each other, and things that they can use to play outside since it is the beginning of all the sunshine! With that in mind here are my ideas for kids and teens!

And last but not least, the mom hack to Easter Basket Egg filling!! I am not a fan of a lot of candy in our house. Yes we still eat plenty but an overload on holidays is not my favorite. So instead of filling eggs with loads of candy, we fill them with MONEY and the kids love it!! It does not have to be expensive at all. We are talking dollars, quarters, dimes, anything. They all love it and you aren’t left with the candy hangover from everyone the next day!

I hope these Easter Basket ideas are helpful as you prepare yours. I wanna know, what are some of your favorite Easter Basket fillers or Easter traditions?

3 Easy Ways to Make Toilet Paper Storage Look Better

Kailee Wright Toilet paper wire baskets

my sweater (similar) + jeans  ||  houston’s top (similar) + jeans  ||  harper’s top + bottoms  ||
square toilet paper storage baskets  |  round toilet paper storage baskets

We’ve talked about how I love to stock up on paper goods whenever I shop for them. Why not? We’re never not going to need toilet paper am I right? But stocking up means having a clean simple way to store and organize that excess as well. So as simple as it seems, today I wanted to share 3 easy ways to make your toilet paper storage look a little better, but be functional too!

I think it’s important that you keep toilet paper stored in every single bathroom. This may seem obvious, but there are many people that keep back stock stored in a cold storage area, or in their pantry or linen closet. I think it’s important to divide up your storage into each individual bathroom to avoid the dreaded empty roll when you REALLY need it!  We’ve all heard it, “mom! I need toilet paper!” At a bare minimum, keep at least three extra rolls in each bathroom at all times. Depending on what kind of storage you already have in your bathrooms, there are some unique options that I’ve come across that can help you be able to stock up and save in your bathroom.  These options all great ways to avoid that desperate need for a square, without compromising style and organization.

Kailee Wright Toilet paper wire baskets

: FLOATING SHELVES

First up, is the option I think works best in a powder bath. Floating shelves are an incredible storage option that keeps a clean modern spin on your design, and doesn’t compromise on space! Once you have a shelf that flows with your design, you can style them with stacked toilet paper itself, or tuck it away in a basket on the shelf. Incorporating the toilet paper into the styled shelf keeps it close by, but in more of a design aspect at the same time.

This option in my opinion is as good as it gets when it comes to toilet paper storage, and what we do in our Master Bathroom. So many times bathrooms are lacking natural elements, keeping them feeling sterile and not very homey. Adding a basket, with or without a lid, helps the room feel more “done” as well as helps store as much toilet paper as you need. Play around with this and try different basket styles to fit your own personal style.

: UNDER THE SINK

This is a common family go to. Most bathrooms have some form of vanity or cabinet storage which makes this option easy.  But please don’t just throw it in there and call it good. We want things to stay organized under there! I recommend placing a plastic tub or basket inside your cabinet to hold the toilet paper. That way the toilet paper has a place and isn’t getting shuffled around. This will also protect against any leaks and spills that always seem to happen.

I know it seems simple, but taking the time to organize the small things make the biggest difference in your home organization overall. So I’m curious, what’s your go to way to store your extra toilet paper?

Today we are continuing on the home tour rewind and taking you inside our Master Bedroom + Bath! I love that a couple years later I am still in love with the design and the clean light bright feel of it!

When I sat down to go over the design for our Master Bedroom, I wanted it to feel clean, cozy, light, and bright. The first step to getting the light and bright I craved was the big windows! As I’m sure you’ve noticed, we have them around the whole house. I love how much more open and alive it makes everything feel. We were concerned about having such big windows in the Master Bedroom for both privacy + too much light when sleeping, but thanks to our auto shades from Park City Blinds, we can quickly transform the space. They have really been SUCH a game changer and they were so great to work with!!

Our Master Bedroom has actually became a place where we spend a lot of time as family too. Sometimes it is to tackle the laundry together. Sometimes it’s for a movie snuggle on the bed. We wanted the room to be comfortable for them too. We added this fun couch and bench to give a little more “decorative” seating for when the whole gang comes in, but honestly we usually all end up piled on the bed!

I’ve also been getting a lot of questions over on Instagram about our bed too! I really wanted something that matched our light flooring and didn’t feel like it weighed down the space, even though it is such big focal piece. You’ll notice we avoided having any dressers to keep the space open, and have everything organized in the Master Closet. So I was thrilled when we found this great option from Rove.

We wanted to keep with the simple, light, and bright, so we went with white bedding. It is such an easy way to brighten up your space and keep it looking timeless. I can switch up the design by just trading out a few pillows! For now I wanted to add a few pops of pink because it needed a touch of girly, so I threw in one of my very favorite pillows, as well as these pink vases (just on my side!) to give it a little pop. We balanced the girly by pulling some blue in with these two prints I fell in love with from Minted. I love that they bring color but aren’t too bold, and tie the couch in to the design.

For lighting, we of course wanted something that could help brighten the space, but again I didn’t want the bulk. I asked my girl Mendee from Lighting Design who helped us source lights throughout the house if she had any ideas to fit my vision and of course she came through! These hanging Hudson Valley pendants were perfect for above the nightstands, allowing us to steer clear of any clutter.

To finish off the space, I went with my two favorite touches, pillows and plants! I cannot have a room without both!! To me it is such a great way to add a personalized touch to your space! It is no secret I am obsessed with these pillows, as they are now a part of every room in the house!

While I’m sharing the Master Bedroom, I thought I’d give you a peek inside the Master Bath too! Our main goal, like the rest of the house, was to keep it light and open. We wanted to avoid clutter as much as possible and love how it turned out!

So I think that covers everything in the space! But if I missed anything you wanted more details on, please let me know and I’ll add it to the post! I hope you love the space as much as we do!

Raise your hand if you love makeup!  Because I have done hair for so many years, I’m definitely a hair product lover but that love for new products has definitely spilled over into makeup and I’ve loved it.  With a growing makeup collection and being able to accumulate tried and true products that I absolutely love, I have tried a few different makeup storage and organizational tricks that have proved super helpful in our minimalistic home.  I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I love for everything in our home to have a place.  Makeup is no exception.  If we’re keeping it, it will have a place to go.

When beginning to organize a makeup collection, I would recommend that you begin by purging anything that you don’t use more regularly. Things like old eye makeup or cracked + broken powders.  It always helps to start with a clean slate so your organizing what you use, not any unnecessary extras.

Now for the fun part!  Organizing your products.  There are so many ways that this can be done. I’ve seen many women sort their products by area of the face (face/base, eyes, lips, cheeks). This is an awesome choice if you like to keep a lot of products.  Another option that is really effective is to decide HOW you like to apply your makeup.  Are you usually at your bathroom counter, getting ready with minimal product?  A shallow drawer organization may be best suited for you.  Maybe you are usually on the go when you apply your makeup?  I’d recommend keeping your daily products in a high quality makeup bag instead.  It really just depends on how you apply your makeup most often and making that effective and organized.

: SHALLOW DRAWER STORAGE

If you like to apply your makeup at your bathroom counter and you have shallow drawers at that counter, I recommend these clear drawer organizers.  They are the perfect depth and look sleek and clean.  You can use these sticky putty dots on the bottoms of your organizers to make sure that they aren’t slipping and sliding as the drawers open and close.

: DEEP DRAWER STORAGE

This is one of my favorite bathroom organizational products so far.  I love these clear totes for everything, especially to organize morning and evening skincare products but they would also work magnificently for makeup organization and brush organization to keep your brushes open to the air.  If you have deep drawers or cabinets as your storage location for makeup, these make such an easy option to grab your tote, apply your makeup, and clean up easily.

bins with LIDS

: BACK STOCK STORAGE

I love using these little bins with clear lids for extra makeup products, back stock, and other beauty products that I don’t use daily.  The fact that they have clear lids is what makes them so great because I can easily tell what’s inside and we can stack them on top of each other for easy storage.

Acrylic Clear Organizer

: VISIBLE COUNTERTOP/VANITY STORAGE

Makeup product packaging has become so beautiful so if you are someone who loves to keep your pretty products on display, these clear acrylic organizers are a wonderful option.  There are so many configurations that will suit your needs so I would make sure that you look at your collection and buy an organizer with a little more space than you think you need, just to be safe.

: TRAVEL

And finally, I think we all need a great makeup bag but especially if you are one who does your makeup on the go consistently!  Makeup bags have come a long ways but a few things that I think are important to consider are that your bag is solid and able to protect glass products if you use them, that it has the ability to store brushes without them getting crushed, and that it is easily washable.

I hope you found this helpful and that you’ll tag me if you try any of these makeup organization options!

3 Tips to Simple Bathroom Organization for Kids

How many of you are taking this fresh new year and time at home to tackle all the home organization projects you’ve been putting on the back burner?? We definitely are and one of those forever delayed projects is organizing the Kids Bathroom! It has basically been a free for all since we moved in. The kids usually end up getting ready for school and such in our bathroom, so I didn’t really see a need for it. But now that they are getting more independent, and spending more time getting themselves ready, we decided it was time for some organization!! Organizing a space that functions primarily for kids is a little different than your typical project. So today I wanted to share 3 tips to simplify the process and make it the most functional for your people!

:: SIMPLIFY WHAT YOU SEE

I don’t know about you, but when I am given too many choices, my mind instantly goes to overwhelm and resorts to a brain freeze. Our kids often react the same way. It is usually easier to narrow things down for them with 2-3 options. The same thing goes for organization. If your kids open their drawer and see 5 toothbrushes, 10 lipglosses, and 35 scrunchies, it is going to create instant overwhelm. How do they know what to use? And how do you keep such a congested space organized? That is where my first tip of simplifying what you see comes in.

Try to keep your main areas they are going to see often as simple as possible. This means narrowing items down to the ones you use most and putting your back stock out of sight. Maybe 1-2 lip glosses, 1 hair brush, 1 toothbrush, etc. Not only does this make what they are seeing simplified, but it makes cleaning up/keeping the organization in tact a lot easier. Take all the extras and put them somewhere they aren’t going to see every day. These drawer organizers from The Container Store help give you a simplified clean look for your basic every day items, making it easy for kids to know how to put things back where they go.

:: DIVIDERS MAKE DREAMS COME TRUE

It should come as no surprise to any of you that having a shopping spree to The Container Store would be a dream come true for me. Yes I completely love the look of their products in a space like my pantry where it keeps things uniform and clean, but the number one reason I love their products is the function. Every time I go on their website, I find something new and amazing.

Everything I got from The Container Store for the kids bathrooms has been such a game changer. My favorites are probably these dividers and these under sink drawers. First up the dividers. These are one of the biggest examples of why I say dividers make dreams come true in a kids space. Dividers help categorize things for your kids so they can see what they have and be able to use the products as well as easily keep them organized, instead of forgetting you even have certain products because they get shoved to the back of a cupboard.

stackable drawers

These under sink drawers have been so amazing too! I don’t know about you, but I have always hated the wasted space around the pipes and these solve that making your space so much more functional.

If your stuck on where to start or what products would work best, honestly just go to their website or Instagram. They have so many great ideas I never would’ve thought of on my own to simplify your space.

:: INCLUDE THEIR INPUT

Last but definitely not least, is probably one of my biggest tips! When it comes to getting your kids to help out more around the house, whether it is with keeping things organized, chores house, or anything is to include their input. They want to be heard. The bathroom is their space, so let them have a say in how things are organized. They are the ones that are going to be using it (and hopefully cleaning it up). So take into consideration what works best for them. Hayden loved taking charge of her drawers. I can tell her sense of ownership is playing a big part in her wanting to keep her space “perfect”.
