OUR LIFE UPDATE

sugar cookies with cousins

: THANKSGIVING

We all know that family is my everything. It was so special to have everyone together for Thanksgiving and spend a couple of full days together. Joe hardly ever has holidays off, and this year he got the whole week of Thanksgiving off, which was just amazing. He also has the week of Christmas off, and I don’t think that’s happened for 10 years! I’m so excited to have him home with us. Both my sisters were in town for Thanksgiving, too, and I just absolutely love it when we can all be together and get the cousins together.

: KIDS UPDATE

Hunter just graduated from hair school, which is such a big accomplishment! Hair school was all day long, and she would always miss family dinner, so now she’s home and can be on the same schedule as us! She got her hair license in the mail and is starting to work in an official hair salon today, just part-time for the next few months. I’m so excited to have her home for a few months before she leaves on her LDS mission to Indiana in February! If you didn’t hear, she surprised us with her mission call for our church. We had no idea she was applying and doing all the necessary paperwork!! She’s going to be gone for 18 months and my heart can’t handle it! It’s so bittersweet…I am so extremely proud of her and grateful for the example she’s setting, but I’m going to miss her like crazy. Joe and I have been working out with Hunter every morning, and we’re heading to Phoenix this weekend for her high school/hair school graduation trip! She originally chose to go to NYC, but she realized she didn’t want to be cold- haha! So Phoenix it is.

my shirt + jeans + shoes

Hayden + Harper are about to be in the thick of cheer competitions! Their first one is in Vegas a few days before Christmas. After Christmas, it’s going to be non-stop! This is Harper’s first year, and we are so excited to watch her! She’s absolutely thriving and practicing at home any chance she gets.

Hudson is turning into a muscle man! He has goals, and he is always working towards them, which I admire so much. His goal is to put on 15lbs before baseball season, so he’s always eating and lifting weights! He has totally grown into a man, and I love getting big hugs from him! Houston just finished football, which was so fun to watch since he couldn’t play last year because of his broken finger. He starts basketball soon, so he’s excited about that!!

What I’m Actually Getting My 5 Kids for Christmas 2025

Today on the blog I’m sharing what I’m actually buying all my kids for Christmas!! I’ve shared my gift guides that are our tried true favorites, but I thought sharing what I’m buying my kids for Christmas this year would be helpful as well!

outfits linked here

WHAT I’M GETTING MY KIDS FOR CHRISTMAS

watch + bike + books + polly bird + 3d printer + jeans + black top + grey top

: HARPER

If you know me, you know I don’t like electronics. I like to buy gifts that will keep my kids off screens! I bought this 3D printer as a gift that both she and Houston can share. They’ve been wanting one for a while now. I also got them both bikes so that they can be together outside! Along with that, I ordered Harper some of her favorite books, a few new tops for winter, this Polly Magic Bird she’s been wanting, and this Shark watch that she also asked for!

bike + game table + camo hoodie + sweats + shirt + kendama + bounce battle + lego set

: HOUSTON

I ordered this game table for all the kids to share as well!! They love playing games together, which is why I ordered this Bounce Battle game too. I also got Houston this new sweat set from Abercrombie and one of their essential t-shirts! And another Lego set that he and Hudson can do together.

electric bike + helmet + quilted bag + perfume + adidas shoes + sweats + jeans

: HAYDEN

Hayden’s main gift is the electronic bike! She is going to be so excited!! I also got her a new pair of Adidas shoes, some perfume she’s been wanting, these sweats that she always steals out of my closet, this quilted bag that comes in a ton of colors, and some new barrel jeans she can wear this winter!

shirt + shirt + wakeboard + wakeboard cover + sweats + adidas shoes + hand warmers + sunglasses

: HUDSON

Hudson is pretty easy and always wants some new clothes or anything outdoor related. He’s been loving this Essentials brand, so I ordered the sweats and a matching shirt for him. I thought these Adidas shoes would go well with everything he has. We also bought these electric hand warmers and let him customize his own Oakley sunglasses- two things he will be able to use for baseball season! Last thing is this wakeboard and wakeboard cover, since that’s one of his favorite activities in the summer to do with his friends!

dress + dress + dress + bag + coat + suitcases + shoes + necklace + journal

: HUNTER

A lot of you know that Hunter is preparing to serve an LDS mission in Indiana! She leaves end of February, so a lot of her gifts are things that she will need/use for her mission! Some new dresses, sturdy close-toed shoes, our favorite suitcases, a warm coat, this leather journal, and this crossbody bag! I also bought her this necklace since she’s always trying to steal mine!

. . .

Thank you for being here! I hope everyone has the best Thanksgiving and Christmas with their people!!

Quick + Easy Frozen Oreo Dessert

Does your family have one of those go-to favorite desserts? The kind you whip up for everything from fun family game nights to neighborhood BBQs and everything in between? For us, this frozen Oreo dessert is for sure our go-to! It takes almost no time to throw together, can be prepped ahead, and is something your kids will die over! All the details on how to prep our favorite frozen oreo dessert and what ingredients you need are below!

oreo mud pie dessert

glass pan + silverware + favorite dish towels (use code KAILEE15 to save!)

QUICK + EASY FROZEN OREO DESSERT

oreo mud pie dessert

– INGREDIENTS –

1 package of Oreos (you could use any flavor you like, or stick to the original)

1/2 gallon of ice cream (again you could use any flavor you like, or stick to vanilla)

small jar of hot fudge (or if you are feeling fancy, make your own)

– INSTRUCTIONS –

Take your ice cream out of the freezer so it can start to soften a little bit. While that is softening, put your Oreos in a gallon-sized plastic bag and crush them into small chunks. Layer about 1/2 of your Oreos on the bottom of your 9×13 glass pan. Next, put a layer of softened ice cream over the Oreos. Now take your hot fudge and layer as much as you want over the ice cream. **I DO NOT have it heated up to avoid melting the ice cream.** Once you have your hot fudge drizzled over the ice cream, add your remaining crushed Oreos on top. Pop it in the freezer until hardened again, and you are ready to serve.

One thing I love about this recipe, besides how delicious it is, is that it is so customizable. As I mentioned, you could swap out for different flavors of Oreos or ice cream. You could also switch it up and use a different chocolate, like Reese’s or even fruit like strawberries! We hope you love it as much as we do!

. . .

Hope you enjoy! It would be the perfect dish for your friends and family during Christmas break! Another one of our favorite holiday desserts is these snowball cookies! Tag me on your Instagram story if you end up making either of these!

A Stress-Free Guide to Throwing a Favorite Things Party

If you’ve ever wanted to host a favorite things party but felt overwhelmed by rules, gift swaps, or all the moving parts- this is your sign to keep it simple! I’ve been hosting these for years, starting back when we were in med school and money was tight. Over time, our situations have changed, but the heart of it has stayed the same: make it cozy, keep it low-stress, and let everyone go home with something they love!

my shirt + similar pants + shoes

: HOW IT WORKS

Everybody invited is asked to bring one of their favorite items (wrapped or in a gift bag). When we were in med school, we kept it affordable and had everyone bring three $5 gifts. The past few years, we’ve all been in a better spot financially, so we decided to get one gift in the $25-$35 range.

Toss everyone’s name into a bowl and have everyone draw one name. Whichever person draws your name gets your gift. No stealing, or complicated rules. And here’s the best part: when someone opens your gift, you get to explain why it’s your favorite….where it’s from, why you’re obsessed, what makes it special, etc. This is always everyone’s favorite part because it becomes something that everyone wants to get the link for.

my sweat set

: HOSTING MADE EASY

Like I said, I keep it simple! I never send fancy invitations or spend weeks planning. I literally just send a quick text to my girlfriends. My house is already decorated for the holidays, so I don’t ever need to do anything extra there! And when it comes to food, last year I just told everyone to bring their favorite treat or snack. And let me tell you- we had so much food. I served my favorite protein balls and snowball cookies, but we had so much food that I didn’t even need to prepare a thing. Some of my friends brought chips + guac, popcorn, cookies, etc, and it was all delicious!

Want to know the fun tradition I always do at my parties? I tell everyone to come in their Christmas pajamas/loungewear! It removes all the pressure of dressing up, and everyone gets to be comfy and relaxed. It instantly sets the tone for a girls’ night where we can just sit on the couch chatting for hours!

And that’s it! At the end of the day, a favorite things party should feel welcoming, low-key, cozy, and full of thoughtful gifts. It’s truly just a girls’ night surrounded by blankets, snacks, pajamas, and fun conversations- with the bonus of going home with something you love!

: WHAT TO BRING?

I wanted to share a few of my favorite things, in case you need some ideas!

Geometry Towels – I gift these towels to literally everyone in my life. Friends, teachers, sisters, etc and everyone loves them. They are the best kitchen towels a woman could ask for! They come in a million different patterns, and we also love their bath towels, tablecloths, dishcloths, and more. Don’t forget to use code KAILEE for 15% off!

Salty Tub – I’ve been sharing these bath kits for years! They make the best gift for anyone in your life. They have lots of fun themes to choose from, and each kit comes with some salts + accessories to match the theme. Both Joe and I love their kits. Their site is currently 40% off through this weekend, but my code KAILEE will save you money all year long!

SNOWBALL COOKIES RECIPE

There’s something about the holiday anticipation that brings out the baking lover in me! I have always loved doing it, but around the holidays it is so fun, and my kids love it!! So I thought it would be fun and fitting for the holidays to start us off with a yummy treat that is a family favorite around here, Snowball Cookies!

kailee wright snowball cookies

: BACKSTORY

This snowball cookie recipe is from Joe’s Grandma Wright, or as we call her Grandma Delta. Grandma Delta is hands down one of the best bakers I have ever met! The minute she would find out someone is traveling through town; she would start baking so she could have a warm treat ready for our arrival. Like a lot of women from that generation, she wasn’t quick to give up her recipes. It took a few years of convincing and begging, but over the years she would slowly let them out, and we are so grateful now that she can no longer bake. This Snowball Cookie recipe is one that is so fun and easy to whip up with kids! I hope you love it as much as we do!

SNOWBALL COOKIES

kailee wright snowball cookies

3 squares unsweetened chocolate

2 cups sugar

4 eggs

2 cups flour

1/2 teaspoon salt

2 teaspoons baking powder

Melt the chocolate in the microwave or over a saucepan.

Mix all ingredients together well. Roll dough into 1.5 to 2 inch balls and freeze overnight on a baking sheet.

Holiday Gift Wrap

There’s just something about a beautifully wrapped gift that makes me so happy! Honestly, one of my favorite parts of the season is choosing new wrapping paper and ribbon!! Today on the blog I wanted to share some Christmas gift wrap that I’m loving this year!

HOLIDAY WRAPPING PAPER

: MY FAVORITE BRAND

Every October, I look for the newly released holiday wrapping paper from the brand Sugar Paper. They sell at Target, and their designs are absolutely darling. I stock up on them every year, even for birthdays and other special occasions too. Linking my favorites below!

I ordered the below “Love Santa” wrapping paper WEEKS ago, and it keeps selling out! Luckily, it’s back in stock right now, but I doubt it will be for long! I get a Santa wrapping paper every year, just so I don’t have to write which presents are from him and which aren’t. I just absolutely loved the look of this one, so I had to stock up!

wrapping paper

I also found a ton of darling wrapping paper options on Amazon!! Be sure to check those out here!

: FAVORITE RIBBON

I get all my favorite ribbon from Amazon! This Merry Christmas ribbon has been my go-to for years! It also comes in “Ho Ho Ho” and a few other sayings that you can use throughout the year. The ribbon is especially cute for friend gifts!

I also always love going for a classic velvet ribbon. This one is my favorite because it comes in a ton of colors, and the width of it is absolute perfection! I just love the velvet look and feel like it totally enhances any wrapping paper you choose to pair with it!

Another ribbon I always mix in is this raffia ribbon. It also comes in a ton of colors and I just love the textured look of it. You can seriously pair it with any wrapping paper, patterned or not!

: GIFT WRAP ORGANIZATION

You guys know I’m a sucker for organization! With all the wrapping paper and gift bags I have, I wanted to simplify everything and keep it all in one place. This storage container has been a lifesaver! It has a ton of room for rolls of wrapping paper, a designated area for ribbons and bows, and another area for gift bags! It’s seriously a game-changer!

It has become one of our very favorite traditions for 13 years now! Sharing a ton of pajama options for the whole family below!!

My Current Fall Fashion Staples

It’s finally cooled down to the 60’s and 70’s where I live, so I had to order some new fall staples that I can style all fall + winter long! You guys know I’m all about the basics- this year, I picked out a few tops, bottoms, and shoes that can be worn with basically anything and everything. And if you don’t know my favorite closet hack- I always get rid of a clothing item when I buy something new! It helps keep my closet from getting jammed full, and I love knowing that my closet only has items I truly love and wear.

top + jacket + bottoms + shoes

FAVORITE FALL STAPLES

top + bottoms

: TOPS

I bought this Aritzia long-sleeve top in multiple colors(size XS), because I love that I can layer it with anything or just wear it by itself. It’s ribbed, and the neckline is a slight boatneck. It’s seriously so darling with jeans, sweats, skirts, etc.

top + bottoms + shoes

I also bought this Vuori top in a couple of colors, too. It’s a scoopneck, and the fit is so flattering. This option from Amazon is super similar; I have it in a few colors as well. Again, I love anything I can layer when I need some extra warmth. This button-up top is another favorite from Vuori, too. I wear a size XS in both!

top + bottoms + shoes

This Quince cardigan has been my favorite for the past 2 years. Every detail is so good. The buttons, the length, the neckline!! It comes in multiple colors and is currently 55% off! I love that I can dress it up or down.

top + bottoms + shoes

I also made a Free People order, and I’m so excited about this hoodie! It fits oversized and it’s extremely soft! Comes in 10 colors too! I also ordered this mockneck in gray. It comes in lots of colors and even comes with matching shorts. But I love that I can style them separately. Everyone needs a good hoodie + mockneck for fall!

: BOTTOMS

top + bottoms + shoes

I’ve been sharing these Pistola jeans on my Instagram for a couple of weeks now, and you guys are loving them! Shopping for jeans is not my favorite thing, but when I find jeans like these ones, it makes it all worth it! The fit is so good, and they even have a slight barrel, which I love. I ordered them in both the mercury and artisan colors. Both size 25 petite. I’m 5’4″ and the petite length is perfect for me!

top + bottoms + shoes

These jeans are another must-have this season! They keep selling out, but luckily, I’ve been able to find them at a couple of stores. The wash is absolutely darling, and they can truly be styled with any top or shoe. They also fit true to size!

top + bottoms + shoes

If you want a comfy pair of pants that can be dressed up or down, then these Aritzia ones are perfect! I bought them in a couple of colors and love wearing them around the house or even out to run errands. Just trust me on this one!

tank + sweats

I couldn’t write this blog post without including my favorite sweats in the world. I discovered them earlier this year, and now it’s all me and my girls want to wear. They come in tons of colors, and the quality is amazing, even after washing them multiple times. We also love wearing the matching sweatshirt to go with them, but I love that we can style them separately!

: SHOES

ring + shoes

I’ve had 3 shoes on repeat already this fall, and they are too good not to share!! I ordered these Nikes for myself, and I am obsessed. I wanted to find a sneaker that didn’t look too bulky, and these ones are perfect. I’m even surprising Hunter with them for her birthday, since she keeps stealing mine! I ended up ordering them in this red color, too.

shoes linked

Another must is these Aritzia boat shoes. I could not decide between the brown and the green, but I ended up buying the willow green, and I’ve already worn them so much. They’ve been so fun to style! Sizing is true!

shoes linked here

Of course, I have to share about Adidas! I’ve collected lots of different Adidas Sambas over the years, and not only are they so comfy, but they seriously go with anything and everything! Be sure to size down a half size when ordering Sambas.

So happy you’re here! If you’re ready to start Christmas shopping, be sure to check out my 2025 gift guides! I rounded up all my favorite ideas for all the loved ones in your life!!

Family

Our Family Trip to Seaside

We last-minute decided to book a family trip to Seaside, Florida, and I’m so glad we did! We’d heard so many great things about the 30A area, and I can testify that it lives up to the hype! The weather was absolutely perfect this time of year too. It’s truly the best place to reconnect with your family. My kids are already begging to go back!!

my swim top + sunglasses + hat

: WHERE WE STAYED

We stayed right in Seaside. We booked through 360blue online, and the area/location was Watercolor! It was amazing. I’m not able to share the exact house. But if you stay in a Watercolor house, you get a wristband that gives you access to all of the pools in the area, as well as a private entrance to the beach!! A couple of the clubhouses have slides and splash pads, and all sorts of things. The area felt super safe, and I was totally fine with the big kids going off on their own. Truly the best area for a family trip!

We did get a rental car, but we honestly never drove it. Joe and Hudson came in a day later, and they just took an Uber. I really think if you have a smaller family, you’re probably better off just to Uber from the airport and Uber back. Most Ubers don’t fit 7 people and 7 suitcases, so that’s why we did the rental car! But we never drove it. The streets are specifically made for bikes and golf carts, so there are hardly any cars on the roads. Everything takes 5 minutes to bike to, and it is such a sweet experience. The house came with adult bikes, so we went to the nearby bike shop to rent two extra little bikes for the kids.

: WHAT WE DID

We basically slept in, biked, pool hopped, went to the beach every day, ate the yummiest food, and stayed up late playing games and watching movies! I loved that it was so low-key and we were able to enjoy slow mornings and quality time together.

There are a bunch of super cute shops in the Town Square that the kids would go in and out of. Duckies is a famous toy store that has a ton of cute toys. It definitely was smaller than I had anticipated, but the kids truly loved it!

: WHERE WE ATE

We only ate in Seaside’s town square. They have tons of cute trailer/food trucks that are permanently there all year long. The food was absolutely incredible. Some of our favorites were:

Pickles – hamburgers and shakes

30A Meltdown – think grilled cheese sandwiches with anything and everything on them

The Green Stream – the best açai bowls and juices, and smoothies I’ve ever tasted

Wild Bill’s Beach Dogs -the kids went absolutely crazy over

Frostbites – shaved ice with ice cream on the bottom. A small is literally bigger than your entire head.

Bud and Alley’s – a waterfront restaurant. Joe and I went on a date there, and the steak and chicken were absolutely amazing. They’re known for their seafood.

There’s literally another handful of food trucks there, but when I say food trucks, think bougie food trucks…like a yummy crêpe place and more! The food is pretty expensive because it is truly the only place where there are restaurants. We made a Walmart order the day we flew in, and I wish I had ordered more. There’s a little grocery store that you can bike to, but the prices were a little bit higher than normal. We did a good combination of eating breakfast at home but making sure to sample all the yummy treats and sweets throughout the week.

. . .

We’ve decided to make Seaside a yearly family tradition for our family! It’s THAT good! Let me know if you end up going to Seaside and how you like it!
