I feel like so much has happened in the last month that it was time for another life update!! Thanks for following along with our craziness!

: HOUSE UPDATE

House is DONE being framed!! So exciting!! We are moving on to plumbing, and next up is electrical. It’s been a long time coming, but it’s nice to have a part of the building process finished.

: HUNTER’S UPDATE (SISTER WRIGHT)

Hunter is doing so well! They have transfers every 6 weeks. So they can move location and get a new companion. She just had her first transfer last week and ended up staying in the same area with the same companion. She was thrilled! They are seriously like two peas in a pod and just love each other. They’re still biking every day. Also, there’s a Swig in Indiana! It’s a drink place that originally started in St. George. So it’s just a sweet, tender mercy that she gets to go there and be reminded of home.

: THE 4 KIDS AT HOME

Hudson just finished up high school baseball, and unfortunately, they didn’t get to the final state playoff game. But he’s starting club ball, and we’ll be traveling a lot this summer for that. He’s probably going to get a job this summer and teach private baseball lessons, which would be awesome for him. He’s getting so tall, and I just can’t believe his sophomore year is ending already.

I just went to Orlando with the 2 younger girls for Cheer Summit (it’s like the biggest national competition in the nation), and Hayden and her level 5 team took gold!!! And her other team took silver!! It was an awesome year, so it was such a great way to go out with a bang. She actually has tryouts for the next season on Friday, so she only had like 5 days off, and then she will find out what team she made on Sunday!

Houston is just so easy-going. He is playing baseball and still doing well. We probably won’t travel far for him this summer because we don’t do that when they’re little, but we’re hoping that he will like boating more this year. He didn’t totally love it last year, and he doesn’t like to wake surf, so we’re hoping we can get him back out there.

Harper and her team placed like 13th or something at Summit, but it was her first year performing there, and their routine was great! They had a perfect routine (they hit zero), it’s just that her level one is so competitive. I think there were like 50+ teams there. But they did great, and she had so much fun. I got to have some one-on-one time with her at Disney World, and it was so fun. She’ll be trying out for cheer this weekend, too!!

: JOE AND I’S UPDATE

Joe and I are great! I’m still trying to figure out my hormone things. I got testosterone pellets in my butt, and I’ve never been more excited to see if something will work and help me. I just want to feel back to normal and get rid of the brain fog! And have my energy back. I’ve just felt off for like the last year and a half, so I am so excited about that.

We went to Cabo a few weeks ago with our residency friends, and we had the best time! It was much needed to have some vacation time with Joe. We stayed at Le Blanc in Cabo. It’s all-inclusive and one of our favorite resorts. Joe is off this week, so we’ve just been relaxing. There’s no baseball, and there’s no cheer this week, so we’re just thrilled for family dinners!!!

OUR LIFE UPDATE

: MY UPDATE

have been so busy with cheer! We just had high school tryouts last week and had the best turnout that the school has had in nearly 10 years. Hayden made the team, so I’m super excited to spend a lot more time with her. I have the absolute best coaches with so much talent, and we’re excited for a great year next year. 

I just feel like life doesn’t slow down. Joe and I are going to Cabo next week. It’s been over a year or two since we’ve taken a trip for more than 24 hours just the two of us. We’re really excited as we’re going with our residency family, which is who we went to med school with so many years ago. We all lived away from family and became each other’s family. There are 10 couples, and we do or try to do a family vacation in odd years and a couples vacation in even years. It is a lot of work, but everyone’s willing to sacrifice, and it’s been so fun to stay close over the years.

Overall, we’re doing great! I still can’t wrap my mind around not having all my kids here for the holidays, but we are slowly adjusting.

: JOE

Joe is in full-house building mode! It’s like watching a little kid. He wants to go to the lot and look at the changes every single day. I, on the other hand, stop by once a week. We’re in the middle of framing, so you can actually see progress, and the kids are finally starting to get excited. I think since we have had this on our radar for almost 6 years, we’ve kind of lost a little bit of our excitement. : HUNTER

Hunter is doing so well! Even better than I could imagine. I feel like she’s living a little bit of a college life. She and her companion are such a cute match together. They have so much fun together and love doing face masks and sharing their hearts out. She is truly happy, and her light and smile are bigger and brighter than ever. We miss her every day, but get to FaceTime with her on Mondays. So that has become our favorite day of the week!

: HUDSON

Hudson is in the middle of baseball season. State baseball is in a few weeks, and he’s doing great. He’s having such a good season and has such a fun team to play with.

: HAYDEN

Hayden never slows down and wants to be on every cheer team out there. She’s currently on two All-Star teams and now the high school team! She is and always keeps us on our toes. She is the sweetest girl to everyone and never wants anyone to feel left out.

: HOUSTON

The babies kind of get put on the back burner. Houston is in the middle of baseball season, but we changed teams for him this year to just have a slower pace. His team doesn’t travel as much, which is so nice because we are always traveling for the bigger kids. He’s my most easy-going kid and just loves to be around people.

: HARPER

Harper is about to finish up her first year of All-Star cheer. We go to a big cheer competition in Florida in a couple of weeks, and this will be her first time performing there! She has a countdown and is completely ecstatic about this. I seriously can’t believe my baby is nine years old. I’m just trying to soak it all in.

Hunter is officially in Indiana!! She flew there yesterday after spending 2 weeks at the MTC (missionary training center) in Provo, UT. So I figured it was time for an update! If you want more information on missions, you can read my previous blog post here, where I share about missions and everything Hunter packed for hers.

HUNTER’S MISSION UPDATE

: HOME MTC

Hunter spent the first week as a missionary doing Home MTC, which means she was home with us and did her classes via Zoom! She enjoyed it for the most part, but after a couple of days, she was ready to be done sitting at the computer all day long! We dropped her off at the MTC in Provo on March 4th, and that was one of the hardest things we’ve done as a family because we won’t get to see her for the next 18 months. I didn’t want to let go of her! Luckily, while she’s on her mission, she can talk to us once a week on her P-day (preparation day)! And she can message us on Facebook Messenger throughout the week if needed. It’s been my saving grace to talk to her over FaceTime, see her face, and get an update on how she’s doing. And the kids are so excited when it’s time to FaceTime her!

: PROVO, UT MTC

She was at the MTC in Provo for 2 weeks, and she roomed with 6 other sister missionaries in a room/dorm with 6 bunk beds! She had the best time with these girls and connected with them so much. They’re all so funny and loved doing face masks together each night. Any free time they have, they genuinely love spending time together. Hunter is so easy-going and friendly, so I already knew she would adapt and have no issue making these connections. We’ve moved so many times, and I just know that all the big and small moments of her life have led her to this and have prepared her for her mission.

She is absolutely loving the classes at the MTC and said she has been learning so much. Joe and I already feel like she’s growing so much, especially her testimony, which has been awesome to see. LDS missionaries are always in a companionship of 2 so she was assigned the sweetest companion during the MTC, and that has been such a blessing too.

A few days into being at the MTC, she was having a hard day just because she felt homesick and was missing us. She also had a hard time with the food in the MTC and getting used to a new schedule. They wake up at 6:30 am and go to sleep at 10:30 pm, which is hard for her because she is a night owl and loves to sleep in too! So on FaceTime with her, we gave her some encouraging words, and the next morning, she said she was doing a lot better, which was relieving!

: SHE MADE IT TO INDIANA!

She made it safely to Indiana yesterday, where she will be living for the next 17 months! She will be getting a new companion and officially start finding people to teach and serve! I’m so anxious to hear how everything goes her first week out in the mission field!

We had a sweet miracle happen this last week. Her cousin got called to the SAME MISSION! Indiana, Indianapolis! So that was such a sweet blessing, and Hunter told me it was an answer to her prayers. I’m so excited to see all the good these girls do together!
