Back to School: Kid’s Clothes

Can you believe we’re already into July?! School starts next month for my kids and I can’t believe how fast summer is going! We’ve slowly started school shopping for the girls and a little bit for the boys- so I wanted to share our picks here and I’ll be sure to share more as we get things ordered!

When it comes to school clothes shopping, I love picking out BASICS that they can wear year-round! We found these $16 cargo pants from Walmart and they are adorable! There are so many fun ways to style them too- both Hayden + Harper love them! We also bought these tank tops which are another great staple and they come in lots of colors!

: CLOSET DETAILS

When it comes to kids’ closet, I like their closets to be as decluttered as possible. We don’t keep any toys in their closets, all of our toys are kept in the playroom!

Labeled baskets have worked really well for us! We put the baskets where the kids can reach them to avoid clothes all over the ground, which is why I love the lower hanging racks for hangers too. My biggest tip would be using baskets because nothing has to be folded or perfect – it can just be tucked away in the basket- out of sight out of mind! Easy for the kids and less stress for mama! I ordered these CD players for Harper, Houston, + Hayden to use for audio books this summer and they are loving them! We have been getting audio books from the library, so it’s been fun for them to go and choose books to listen to. I got Houston the blue color and Harper + Hayden the pink!

This watermelon ball has been a hit this summer! The ball fills with water so it’s dense, and the kids can pass it and dribble it under water! It’s really cool + the kids are loving it!

Who doesn’t love linen pants? I bought 2 of these to wear this summer and I’m so excited about them! The waistband is stretchy and is such fun detail too.

I ordered this dress to wear at my cousin’s wedding and it was perfect! It’s the prettiest floral pattern and is perfect for summer. The back is very open, so I had to wear my favorite sticky boobs in place of a bra. Dress fits true to size!

I saw my girlfriend use this steam cleaner to clean her grout and windowsills so I had to order it! Haven’t had the chance to use it yet, but I’m so excited! Anything to make cleaning easier, right?!

I got two new piercings on my ear and they’ve been pretty painful! Everyone told me to buy an earring pillow, so I ordered this one and it’s totally helped my sleep! You lay your ear in the hole so it’s open and not applying pressure on it. Game changer and the price is great!!

I ordered this set in beige-apricot and army green to wear around the house this summer! Also works for a pool cover-up. Fits true to size and comes in a ton of colors!

Our Favorite Ninja Creami Recipes

Our Ninja Creami has been used so much this summer already! Who doesn’t love ice cream on a hot summer day? And even better, who doesn’t love HEALTHY ice cream?! Today I’m sharing our family’s two favorite protein-packed Ninja Creami recipes that your families are sure to love! If you haven’t bought a Ninja Creami yet, this is your sign! OREO ICE CREAM

fill container pint with:

1 cup fairlife milk (not the shake)

1 scoop CSE vanilla protein (code: KAILEEWRIGHT for 10% off)

splash of vanilla

2-3 oreo cookies (smashed)

mix + freeze for 24 hours- do NOT skip this step!

after 24 hours, remove the lid and place pint into the machine

hit the LITE ICE CREAM button (it will mix for a few minutes)

take it out + add 2 tbs fairlife milk + hit RESPIN

next, create a hole in the ice cream and place a few oreos then select the MIX-IN function

+ ENJOY!

Easy BBQ Chicken

We make this BBQ chicken recipe all summer long because it is so easy and so delicious! Sharing the recipe below!

Kailee Wright Easy BBQ Chicken

– EASY BBQ CHICKEN INGREDIENTS –

6-8 chicken breasts (or however many you need for your family)

1/4 cup salad oil

1/4 cup soy sauce

2 tb ketchup

1 tb vinegar

1/4 tsp pepper

2 clove of garlic

1/8 tsp garlic salt

–  INSTRUCTIONS –

place chicken breast in a gallon ziploc bag

put rest of ingredients into the bag

mix everything to make sure the chicken is all covered

marinate over night in the fridge

cook the next day however you wish (we love our traeger grill)

serve with potatoes, rice, salad, etc. so many yummy options!

Our Favorite Acai

Today on the blog I’m sharing our favorite Acai bowl recipe!! We literally live off of these things during the summer, and the girls even take the little pre-packed bowls to school for lunch. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do!

– OUR FAVORITE ACAI INGREDIENTS –

2 sambazon açaí packs (sambazon are our favorite-but we love this brand too)

handful -1/2 cup frozen bananas

handful/ or 1/2 cup frozen strawberries

2 teaspoons of vanilla

1/4-1/2 cup apple juice

(we’ve even added in CSE vanilla protein powder to make it more protein-based. the girls don’t love it, but hudson + i do. code KAILEEWRIGHT)

blend everything together

fresh strawberries, bananas, this granola, + honey

Boys Buzz + Bleach

Today on the blog I’m sharing how to do the “Buzz and Bleach” on boys’ hair! I’ve gotten so many questions about what I used so I wanted to put everything here where you can refer back to. Hudson loves having his head buzzed and bleached so naturally Houston wanted to do it too! Does anybody else have sons who are wanting to do this? It’s easy to do it from home, just follow the steps below!

BOYS BUZZ + BLEACH

: DISCLAIMER

Before I share the steps, I just wanted to share that the way it turns out fully depends on how dark and how light the hair is. First off, I would say just go to a professional because ultimately that’s going to be the safest. But I know a lot of boys and parents who want a buzz and bleach do not want to go to professional, so I’m sharing the professional items I use! And again, I’m not guaranteeing that it will work on everyone but I’m sharing the standard products you’ll need! I’ve been doing hair for over 20 years so I am very experienced with which products to use.

: BUZZ

First off, buzz the hair!! We’ve used these Wahl clippers for years and love them. The biggest question I get is what number we use to buzz. I truly feel like a number two is a true buzz. This past time, we did a number 3 for Hudson and a number 4 for Houston. The reason I did number 4 is because Houston’s hair is really fine and really light so if I would’ve gone shorter on his hair, you basically would’ve been able to see his scalp because he’s super blonde already. Hudson’s hair is very dense and thick so we did a number 3. You can always start with a number 4 and then 3 and then go to number 2…. so maybe start at 4 because you can always take off more. I truly don’t feel like you don’t need to go to a professional to get buzzed, just use clippers and you’ll be good!

: BLEACH

This is the best powder to start with. It will lighten nine levels , depending on how dark your hair is. You’re gonna want to use a 20 volume, because it’s less painful on the scalp (volume 30 and 40 will start to be a little bit painful but 30 volume will lift lighter and so will 40 volume, so I would do what you think your boys can handle). I used 20 on Hudson. So just follow the directions and it’ll tell you exactly the ratios of powder and developer to mix. I use 20 volume on Hudson but he’s a level six. If you’re anything darker, like a level five or four, I would probably use 30 or 40 volume. Mix it up and make sure it’s fully saturated before you rub it on the scalp. I use a glove to rub it all in. Make sure you cover all of the scalp. Then put a shower cap on them, so the product won’t dry out. Leave it on for the time it suggests, maybe even a bit longer if you can. Here is a set that you can buy the developer and powder together.

Next, shampoo that out and then use toner. This toner is by far my favorite! It will go on purple, but it will cut out the yellow and gold color. If you leave it on too long, it will go purple, so you’ll want to follow the directions. You’ll mix the toner with a 7 or 10 developer. Then you’ll rub it on the scalp. Most times, you’ll just need to leave the toner on for about 10 minutes. If the hair is lighter, you will not need to leave the toner on as long. So again, that’s why I’m stressing the importance of reading the directions! (All the directions are on these products and of course, we’ve linked the products for you, but of course, you can purchase them at professional Beauty supplies as well, but you’re gonna have to have a beauty license).

: MAINTENANCE

Be sure to use a purple shampoo! The purple shampoo helps make sure the gold/yellow color doesn’t come back. But to be clear, the purple shampoo does not wash your hair so you’ll want to use a normal shampoo AND then a purple shampoo. You don’t need to leave it on for very long. Rinse out your regular shampoo and then apply the purple shampoo. I just tell Hudson to leave the purple shampoo in while he washes his body, then rinse it out.

I ordered this book because it’s a sequel to Part of Your World that I read and it was so amazing. I seriously read the first book in 4 days and I am not a reader, so I’m excited to read Yours Truly.

: SWEATER SET

When I found out my favorite set comes in a shorts version, I had to buy it! I got the rust color in a size small and love it! Comes in tons of colors and is under $40!

: GLASS JAR

I bought this glass jar for the basement shelves to keep candy and stuff in there for the kids! I loved the look of it.

: RUNNER

I ordered this runner in the silver color for our bathroom and I love it so much!! It’s amazing quality and the price is so good!

: MOP SET

This mop set has been so nice to have! When we moved into our new home, I used it to clean the walls. I just used hot water. It helped get all the handprints and dirt/dust off the walls. I’ve used it for my floors too and it makes mopping so much easier!

: MANNEQUIN HEAD

Hayden bought this mannequin head with her own money! She really wants to learn how to better curl and braid hair but none of us want to sit there as long as she wants to do hair haha, so she ordered that for herself to practice!

The Best French Toast

After sharing my french toast whiskey hack from yesterday, I got flooded with people wanting the recipe! This french toast is SO good and SO easy! Sharing all the ingredients and instructions below!

-THE BEST FRENCH TOAST INGREDIENTS-

(I honestly just eyeball the ingredients. For my family, I fill up our mixer a little over halfway with all the ingredients)

3/4-1 cup heavy whipping cream (or whole milk)

7-8 eggs

1-2 tablespoons of vanilla (we love the mexican vanilla)

1-2 tablespoons of whiskey (we love the Jack Daniels Apple Whiskey– game changer!!)

1-2 tablespoons of cinnamon

-INSTRUCTIONS-

combine everything into your mixer and BLEND!! blending it is the KEY!

pour mixture into your pan + add a little more cinnamon

dip your bread into the mixture, make sure it’s fully covered

place piece of bread on griddle and cook both sides of bread

-TOPPING IDEAS-

any fruit (we love strawberries)

buttermilk syrup

powdered sugar

nutella or cookie butter

sometimes we add icing on ours, it’s a sugar rush but so so good! one cup powdered sugar and about 3 tablespoons of milk (depending on the consistency you want)
