Hey Guys! It’s Hunter here for another Teen Takeover. This time I want to talk about all things Back to School. As much as I hate homework, and am not super excited to wear a mask, I am actually so excited to go back to school and kind of feel a little more normal again. One of my favorite things about the end of summer is Back to School shopping! It is so fun to stock up on the latest trends and get some cute new stuff. So below I linked some of the things I am loving or that are on my wish list for Back to School. Click right on the picture to shop.
:: TOPS
I love these tops so much!! I personally love to stick with basic tops I can easily dress up or down or wear with anything. This basic tee from Target comes in all different colors and would go with anything. Another great t-shirt option is Oversized Graphic Tees. They are a fun way to show your personality, and probably my favorite thing to wear right now. I also chose some cute comfy hoodies. Sometimes when I don’t feel like getting ready for school, I just wear a hoodie! It can still be a cute comfy look without a lot of effort.
:: BOTTOMS
I keep it pretty simple for my favorite bottoms too, sticking to 3 categories. Leggings, distressed jeans, and denim skirts. First up is leggings. I love to pair them with a cute oversized graphic tee or hoodie for a cute so comfy casual look for school. Second is distressed jeans. Ripped jeans, especially in the mom jean style have always been my favorite. They are so cute and I love that they are not super tight or baggie. The last thing I chose for bottoms was a denim skirt. I love wearing these when I just want to feel a little more ready and more dressed up but not too much. You could dress it up with a more fitted basic top or go more casual with the graphic tee again.
:: SHOES
I have my eye on two pairs of shoes this year for Back to School. The first pair are these Nike Air Force 1 sneakers. They are so cute and come in so many colors I love! The second pair are these Blair Sandals. They are such a cute trendy sandal. I love that both of these shoes go with every thing and are just very simple, stylish, and cute shoes to wear anywhere!
:: ACCESSORIES
Last but not least, you’ve gotta have accessories for Back to School! My favorites are for sure these Puravida Bracelets. I love that they have so many cute colors and styles to fit your personality. At the top of my wishlist for Back to School is one of these backpacks too. They are SO cute and come in almost 20 different colors! I love the look of them! And although it definitely won’t be my favorite back to school accessory, these masks are my favorite fit. The material is soft and they plain black and a couple cute patterns.

If there is one “product” I recommend people to use after having babies, it is these magical shorts. Not only are they great to help you feel more sucked in post baby, but they help so much with supporting your body as you gain that muscle and strength back post baby. This bra is SO popular too and always sells out fast in the sale!

If you look at the collage above, you’ll notice my shoe favorites definitely have a theme and that is leopard!! Ha! So many fun shoes! I am especially loving the Leopard style Hunter Boots! I have had these swift run sneakers in a few colors for years and love them for working out and just the everyday momiform. These nike air max are another favorite and so comfortable for the gym!
I’ll be honest, the accessories category is usually one I tend to look over in the Nordstrom Sale. But I am so glad I took the time to go through it this year because there are so many good options!! These earrings are identical to the pair I wear everyday and absolutely love. Such a great classic versatile pair. I practically live in this hat when we go on beach vacations. It is so lightweight and easy to pack, but can be dressed up or down easily too!

When it comes to shopping for my kids, I always try to find things that are super versatile and timeless. For the most part I steer clear of flashy brands, or patterns that are over the top. I love good classic basics and there are some good options for girls in the kids section this year. I got these leggings for my girls last year and we LOVE them, I will be getting again in a bigger size. And tops like this ribbed long sleeve are perfect to dress up or down. Lots of cute leggings too!
The kids section has a lot of great basics for boys this year! Tons of graphic tees like this one and this one that are about all Hudson will wear, as well as some great comfy joggers like these and these. I really loved that two of our favorite jackets made the sale this year! This jacket is Houston’s all time favorite and always his first pick. And this is the cutest fitted puffer too!
Kids shoes are one of my favorite things to get at the Nordstrom Sale. They are the great quality shoes you always have your eye on, but at much better price points. These sneakers have been on repeat for Hudson and Hayden, and I love these high tops for Harper!

First up let’s talk skincare. If you follow me over on Instagram, you know that I stick to my tried and true products for years and years, so I was so happy to see a few of them featured in this years Beauty lineup. One of my all time “made for me” kits from Tula, the PMD Microderm and Clean I swear by, as well as the glo pro microneedling set I love. And I couldn’t do this beauty post and not include my all time favorite tanning brand. They have not one but two of their solutions at killer prices!! The classic mousse which I’ve used for years, and my new favorite the express mousse. It gives you such a great color and is so easy to apply. You can read more about why I love it here.
I have done hair for almost 20 years now, so you could say my taste in products is a little on the particular side. When I pulled up the Beauty section, I was both shocked and thrilled to see the Olaplex Maintenance set included. It is hands down my favorite for my hair and such a great price point!! My curling iron and blow dryer also made the list!
Last but not least as far as deals in beauty goes is makeup. I don’t wear a lot of makeup, so if I recommend a product you know it is tried and true! I think my top two must haves in makeup are the Charlotte Tillbury set and the Laura Mercier setting powder. I’ve used both for a couple of years now and love love them!

First up, let’s talk your about deals for your living space. My top favorite is this duvet cover. As you’ve probably noticed in our home images, I love a good duvet cover. It gives your rooms such a clean classic look and pulls the rest of the accents together. Another favorite in the bedroom + living section of the the Home sale items are these barefoot dreams blankets. They are by far the coziest blanket I have ever tried, and a favorite to give for gifts for those hard to by for. This year you can get it in lots of classic colorsor fun animal prints. The sale is full of lots of other great accent pieces for your space too!
The bath section in the Home sale didn’t have a lot, but the few pieces I found were good ones! This towel set is such amazing quality, and I’m loving the dot set for a fun kids bath.
The home sale kitchen items this year scream decorating. While they aren’t pieces you will really use in your day to day, they are perfect to take the next dinner you are hosting to the next level. From coastersand serving boards, to the prettiest cake stand, they have your entertaining chic covered!

Anyone else just dreaming and wishing summer could last forever?! I am not ready for the change going back to school brings, especially with all the unknown this year. Plus I am loving soaking up my people for as long as possible! One of our very favorite things about Summer is celebrating our boys! Houston’s birthday was earlier in July, and our sweet Hudson turns 11 today!! I know everyone feels this way about their kids, but Hudson is a dream come true. He is all things good and wonderful in this world and I wish I could have 20 of him! To celebrate his big day, I thought it would be fun to share 11 fun things about him!
When he makes a goal or wants to achieve something, nothing can stand in his way. I love that about him because he never needs to be forced or pushed to try harder. He is his own best motivator.
2- Hudson is the BEST big brother.
Like it is unreal. I constantly find him doing the sweetest things all on his own for his siblings. From painting Harper’s nails, to getting down and playing imaginative games with Houston, he is the sweetest brother in all the land.
3- Hudson is such a gentleman, even to the girls his own age.
I never have to worry about him being kind or polite. He is always opening doors and going out of his way to help others.
4- Hudson is naturally athletic and so dang talented
I love that he doesn’t let it show in his personality. He is still as humble as they come and always trying to do better and work harder. I just hope he saved some talent for the rest of the family!
5- Hudson is so inclusive of others.
Out of all the things teachers and neighbors have ever said about my kids, this one is at the top of my favorites. He always goes out of his way to make sure other people are included at school and just as he plays with his friends. Differences never matter to him and he makes sure everyone has a friend.
6- Hudson is the very best helper.
He is always the first to wake up and do all his chores without ever being reminded, and usually when he is finished he asks me what else he can do to help me out. He also loves to babysit and is so good at it as well. The babies, especially Harper, adore him.
7- Hudson is such a hard worker.
He never has to be reminded to do his work, or asked to redo something when it comes to chores. When it comes to sports, he is always wanting to put in the extra hours to get better and work hard at it.
8- Hudson loves to bake with me, and has become quite the cake master.
Making cakes together has become one of our favorite one on one times, and he is getting so good at it. He recently started trying his hand at cooking too and made our Chicken Alfredo all on his own for dinner last week!
9- Hudson is always serving others quietly behind the scenes.
He always has his focus on those around him. Whether it is looking out for his friends and classmates like I mentioned, or just helping out around the house, he is always quietly serving those around him without looking for extra recognition or anything. Somehow he always knows when I could just use an extra hand or a break with the babies and will come and take them to play. He takes the time to ask how my day is and what he can do to help, even when I know there are things with his friends he would rather be doing. I just always see him doing the smallest things to make another persons day a little brighter and I love that about him.
10- Hudson has the sweetest relationship with Joe.
He wakes up early to workout with him and practice for baseball, and is always intently taking his advice and just wanting to learn from him. I love seeing how close they are and how happy they are doing what they love together.
11- Hudson is so dang fun and hilarious to be around!
When I look at Hudson, I see so much of Joe! And I’m sure some of you do too when you see the amazing faces (like some of the pictures here) he pulls in our Sunday pictures. He doesn’t love the social media spotlight. But he is honestly one of the funniest and fun people you will ever meet. He loves for people to be happy and will go out of his way to be crazy and crack jokes to get a smile.

As you can see, we are pretty big fans of our birthday boy around here! He is as good as they come and we feel pretty lucky he is ours!
Hey Guys! Hunter here for a fun Teen Takeover! Ok, so is it just me or am I the only one that loves smoothies and açai bowls?! Açai bowls are my favorite!! I swear I could eat them every day for every meal if That is how much I love them! Shakes and Smoothies are for sure my Mom and I’s go to in the summer months, so I thought I would share how I make my acai bowl into a yummy smoothie.
Ok here is what I do. I don’t know if I would call it a recipe, because I honestly just eyeball it, but you are going to love it!! First I add the Sambason Acai pack (we usually get them from Costco). Then I add in a handful of strawberries and 1/2 of a banana. After that I add in honey + apple juice. Most people like to add the honey at the end as kind of a topping, but I like to add it to the mixture before hand. Once you have all those ingredients in, just blend it all together until smooth. When it’s all blended up, I put it in a bowl and add some granola and more honey!! If you can’t tell, I love honey! Sometimes I will add strawberries on top too! Then you just enjoy it!

As you can see, basics are always pieces I have my eye on. From great basic tops like this one, a classic knit dress, to jeans, the basics are so great this year! One thing the sale is never lacking is great cardigans for Fall, and based off the preview you’ll have a lot of cute ones to choose from!
Beauty is another one I always head for because they have top brands, usually in different sets, at great prices! This year the the preview is showing awesome sets from Olaplex, Beauty Bio, and Too Faced at great prices! Plus some of our favorites from PMD too!

In all my years of being a mom, I never thought Back to School could be such a hot topic. With this endless summer, we have wondered if “back to school” will ever come, and when it does what will it look like? Our district just announced we will be going back to school 4 days a week, with a lot of new rules and ways of doing things in place. While part of me goes through feelings of worry/stress about it all, another part of me is so excited for the kids to be able to get back to a hint of normalcy, learning, and seeing their friends.
With back to school comes one of our favorite traditions, back to school shopping! While it looks a little different this year with most of our shopping done online, that doesn’t mean you can’t make it fun! So today I am teaming up with Walmart to share my tips on how to have the most successful back to school shopping experience + some of our favorite go to basics!
:: TAKE STOCK OF WHAT YOU HAVE/NEED FIRST
Before I will start any Back to School shopping, I sit down with each of my kids and we do a closet clean out. We take every single thing out of the closet and put it in categories. Then together, not just me, we go through each category. First we go through and take out everything they say they don’t like anymore or will not wear. I’ve learned there is no point keeping it if it isn’t something they love. They aren’t going to wear it and it is just going to take up space!
After we’ve separated out the pieces we aren’t loving, we then go through and try on EVERYTHING else, so we can weed out the items that don’t fit right anymore. From there I make a list of each category and the needs per child so we are never over stocking the closets. Simple, minimal wardrobes is always my goal.
:: BASICS ARE BEST FOR BACK TO SCHOOL
When it comes to shopping for my kids, I have found that basics are best. Not only are they so versatile, but they are usually a lot more affordable as well! With this year looking a little different, I love knowing that basics are something my kids always need, and can wear whether they are at school or distance learning from home. Walmart is such a great place to find go to basics on a budget. Last year we were so impressed with the selection that we gave it another try this year and were just as happy! We found tee’s for boys as low as $7, and ___for girls as low as ____. You can shop some of our favorite finds for both boys + girls below.
Last but not least, make it fun. Everything is so new and different this year for our kids, so try and bring in fun whenever you can. If you’ve been here for a while, you know one of our favorite things are our kids dates. Each month we try to take the kids on one on one dates with Joe or I. It is such a great time to connect, see how their doing, and enjoy them. One of our favorites for summer is back to school shopping. While I don’t think we will do as much in store, you can still make it fun + personal. Set aside a time where you and your child can sit down together. Grab your favorite treats, uninterrupted, and make a wish list. Let them take the reigns and feel a little more grown up navigating the websites and finding what they love! Walmart makes it super easy with everything categorized into great fashion picks and school supplies.

But have no fear, I’m here to help!! I’ve shopped this sale for YEARS.By doing that I have learned a few tips and tricks that have saved me not only time, but the regret of missing out on some steals! Today I’m sharing 5 pre-game tips that will make your shopping experience go so much smoother. And hopefully leave you feeling stress free and stocked up on what you need!
One of the biggest tips I can give you to shopping the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is to know your dates and have a game plan. Depending on your status with Nordstrom, you are able to shop on different dates. Since the sale is made up of all new and HIGHLY anticipated items, things sell out fast. The earlier you can shop the better!!
If you aren’t already a big Nordstrom shopper with Icon or Ambassador Status, but want early access, you MUST be a Nordstrom Card holder. I am typically not a fan of store cards, but this one is completely worth it for the Anniversary Sale alone. Early access allows you to shop 6 DAYS before the sale is open to the public. Yes you read that right…card holders get to start shopping a full 6 DAYS before everyone else. So while the sale is open to the general public from August 19 – August 30th, you’ll start shopping on the 13th! Being able to shop early access can often times be the difference in getting items you had your eye on.
And as an added bonus, right now if you are approved for a Nordstrom Card, you get a $60 gift card if you make a purchase the day you are approved! Save yourself the FOMO and sign up now!
:: TAKE A PRE-SALE INVENTORY
Unlike most sales where you can just kind of browse and find anything that sparks your interest, to fully benefit form the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale you need to go in with a plan. Now is the perfect time to go through your closet, your hubby’s closet, and your kids and do a little clean out. Get rid of the old and make a list of what you really truly need.
By doing this, those items can be your priority pieces. You aren’t just throwing money out on things you are already stocked up on because you are frazzled. Think long term as well. These are fall pieces you are shopping. So while you don’t need that amazing leather jacket or pair of knee high boots now, you won’t want to be paying full price for them in a few months either. Of course you’ll find items on your list that catch your eye to grab too. But having that list of priority purchases helps you stay focused and get what you really need.
New to the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale this year is a full sale preview!! Starting July 24 you will be able to head over to Nordstrom.com and preview the entire sale. This is going to make a huge difference in making your list and knowing if this years sale is something you’d like to shop.
:: SHOP ONLINE
If you think the sale sounds a little crazy on a typical day, adding in efforts to maintain social distancing is going to add to that 10 fold. So while I love a good girls shopping trip as much as the next person, Nordstrom is a place I love to shop online and here is why.
Nordstrom has FREE SHIPPING + RETURNS! So you can do as many orders as you need and you aren’t worrying about all the shipping charges or not being able to switch out sizes if you order multiple to find the right fit. You can choose to have items shipped directly to you or do the convenient curbside pick up, which I love.
If you are worried about sizing and fit on items since you won’t be going in store, don’t be. You are more likely to find your size still available online than in limited stock in store. Also, I will be shopping the sale a little earlier and will have a try on guide (similar to this from my home) with sizing info up asap to help you see and know the fit of things. And with free returns, you can always change your mind!
:: SHOP FIRST, THINK LATER
I know that sounds insane and slightly irresponsible, but let me explain. This is 100% not a tip I would normally give under any circumstance. I am the queen of minimalism, and less is more. But with the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale you have to do things a little differently and change your mindset to “if you want it…even a little…grab it”! And here is why I say that. Items in this sale sell out so fast! You might juts refresh your page, or wait to hear back from your bestie on if she likes something too, and you will be too late.
Now I’m not saying to blow your bank account and keep everything. You are basically bringing the options you considered home to you to get a feel for, try on with different things in your closet and make your decision there. The beauty of Nordstrom is that they always have free returns. So instead of regretting not grabbing something before it sold out, you can go a little wild. Then sort through what you really need when you are less frazzled and more focused.
:: THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX
Last but not least is to remember the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale involves ALL the departments at Nordstrom, not just Women’s Clothing. We are talking everything from Kids and Home to Mens and Beauty. These other categories are often overlooked and can hold some great deals!! I love to shop back to school basics for my kids. Some of my favorites have come from some really incredible deals for them too! So when you are making your pre-game plan, don’t forget the rest of the fam!
