Amazon is my go-to place for summer dresses! They have the best selection for great prices. I’m excited to try these few I’ve found. I grabbed a simple black puff sleeve dress because it’s perfect for any occasion. I also thought the plaid dress, mauve dress, and mermaid dress would be fun for summer and even fall because square necks and puff sleeves are so in right now. And even better, all these dresses are under $40!

This is another one I am shocked is still in stock! I have used this curling iron religiously for years because there is not better!! It does not use a lot of heat so your hair is staying more protected, but the results are amazing every time! Quality is amazing and it will last you years!

If you would’ve asked me before or during the pandemic if I would ever consider homeschool, I probably would’ve laughed in your face! To be honest it was the furthest thing from my mind. But as the world changes and so many things are out of my control as a parent, I really started to get this gut feeling that I needed to look into it more. I mentioned it over on Instagram and got a TON of feedback (alll positive) about it, as well as so much help in how to get going. So today I thought it might be helpful to kind of explain my why, our tentative plan, what has helped me prep, and ALL your amazing recommendations!
I’m sure most of you can agree with me right now, that the world is kind of a crazy place. There is so much being presented to our kids at school (particularly in the older middle school grades) that I just was shocked about. For me, after talking to my kids and their situations over the past year, I just really felt the pull to take more control. Another reason we started to consider the homeschool option was scheduling, particularly for Hudson. When he misses school for baseball, he has had to stay hours after to make stuff up, for silly classes like PE. I was seeing so little of him already with normal school hours, and that just bothered me! So we started to see what we could do about it.
: OUR HOMESCHOOL PLAN
As far as our plan goes, we are not jumping in with 5 kids at 100% full time. With our bigger kids, we sat down with them individually and let them help make the decision. Here is what we are planning on for the start of this school year.
Hunter:
She will go to high school full time. We may do one class as homeschool, but as of now, her schedule will remain all public school.
Hudson:
He will be doing 50/50 with homeschool and middle school. In the mornings he will be home doing history, gym, and home economics/gardening. I honestly cannot wait for this time with him and love how excited he is about it too. In doing our research, Joe and I have also read a lot about the benefits for teens to get an extra hour of sleep. Studies show it is so much better for their health than anything else, which is why we are choosing to do mornings with us. He will do lunch at school, as well as math, science, and english.
Hayden: She is going to do 100% homeschool. I am equal parts so excited and so nervous. We tend to butt heads a lot, so I am more apprehensive as to what to expect. She is the middle child and totally craves that one on one time, so I also think this may just be an answer to our prayers. We are both going into it with an open mind, and know that if it doesn’t work out, she can change things after Christmas.
Houston + Harper:
As of right now, the littles are going to go 100% public school. I know they love learning with their little friends and think they are still in a place where it is so beneficial for them. Depending on how things work out with the big kids, we may start doing partial homeschool in the future.
: OUR CURRICULUM PLAN
You guys gave me SO many recommendations and were full of so much knowledge that I am so grateful for. After doing our research, we are going to use The Good + The Beautiful program.

The Nordstrom Annviersary is such a great time to stalk up on you beauty favorites, especially tools! This is probably the 4-5th year that my go to hair tools from T3 have been part of the sale. They are worth every single penny at normal price, so I highly recommend grabbing them at this great sale price!
Another great thing to stock up on in the beauty section of the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale are skincare tools. These tend to have a higher price point, so being able to score them on sale is huge. Hunter swears by the PMD Clean and uses it daily with her Tula face wash, which is also part of the sale in this great kit. These would be a great duo to even save for Christmas! If you are treating yourself, you’ve got great options too to fight aging skin and get that soft glowing look we all love.
Last but not least in the beauty items worth checking out are these makeup + sunscreen favorites. This glow screen is a major fan favorite, and after using it the last couple months I can agree it is worth the hype!! It gives you great coverage with the prettiest natural tinted glow, so you can go makeup free all summer, or wear it as a base layer. The St Tropez tanner I swear by is included again this year too at a great stock up price. It is for sure my go to and gives you the prettiest tan.

Ah are you all just soaking up this summer sunshine as much as we are?! We are loving these long summer days spent outside together! The weather has finally started to cooperate and stay warm, which means we started pulling out all our summer clothes and quickly realized we were in need of a refresh! Between kids growing like weeds, and clothes being worn out from wearing them all year, it was much needed! We have had so much success finding basics from Walmart’s new Free Assembly line for Joe and I, that we decided to check it out for the kids and LOVED what we found!! So keep reading to check out the cute on trend finds and be shocked at the affordable pricing too!
When we shared the summer basics we found for Joe, I mentioned how much I am loving the Free Assembly line at Walmart. The pieces feel really classic without being boring and you cannot beat the prices. I don’t know about you, but kids are WILD when it comes to summer play. Dirt, grass stains, sidewalk chalk, painting, you name it, it all seems to happen in the span of a day. So knowing that I didn’t spend a fortune on their summer style is definitely a mom win in my book.

It’s the most wonderful time….of the year!! Haha ok I won’t go that far, BUT the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is almost here and it definitely one of my very favorite sales of the whole year!! Unlike most sales that are trying to dissolve old leftover out of season products to make room for a new season, the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is full of BRAND NEW fall styles at discounted sale prices!
While it is my favorite sale of the year, it is also for sure the most stressful sale of the year. The pressure to shop all the things at the sale can be a little overwhelming. But have no fear, I’m here to help!! I’ve shopped this sale for YEARS. By doing that I have learned a few tips and tricks that have saved me not only time, but the regret of missing out on some steals! Not only have I shopped it for years, but I’ve blogged it here as well for years too, so I totally have your back! To help you pre-game, today I’m sharing 5 tips that you can start checking off as soon as today that will make your shopping experience go so much smoother. And hopefully leave you feeling stress free and stocked up on what you need!
:: KNOW YOUR DATES
One of the biggest tips I can give you to shopping the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is to know your dates and have a game plan in mind. Depending on your status with your Nordstrom card, you are able to shop on different dates. Since the sale is made up of all new and HIGHLY anticipated items, things sell out fast. The earlier you can shop the better!!
If you aren’t already a big Nordstromshopper with Icon or Ambassador Status, but want early access, all need to do is get a Nordstrom Card. I am typically not a fan of store cards, but this one is completely worth it for the Anniversary Sale alone. Early access allows you to shop up to 9 DAYS before the sale is open to the public. So while the sale is open to the general public from July 15 – July 31, you’ll start shopping on the 9th! Being able to shop early access can often times be the difference in getting items you had your eye on.
And as an added bonus, right now if you are approved for a Nordstrom Card, you get a bonus gift card! Save yourself the FOMO and sign up now!
:: TAKE A PRE-SALE INVENTORY
Unlike most sales where you can just kind of browse and find anything that sparks your interest, to fully benefit form the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale you need to go in with a plan. Now is the perfect time to go through your closet, your hubby’s closet, your kids and even your beauty shelves to do a little clean out. Get rid of the old and make a list of what you really truly need.
By doing this, those items can be your priority pieces. You aren’t just throwing money out on things you are already stocked up on because you are frazzled. Think long term as well. These are fall pieces you are shopping. So while you don’t need that amazing leather jacket or pair of knee high boots now, you won’t want to be paying full price for them in a few months either. Of course you’ll find items on your list that catch your eye to grab too. But having that list of priority purchases helps you stay focused and get what you really need.
One of my favorite new additions to the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale as of last year is a full sale preview!! Starting June 29th you will be able to head over to Nordstrom.com and preview the entire sale. This makes a HUGE difference in making your list and seeing if this years sale is something you’d like to shop.
If you think the sale sounds a little crazy in general, shopping in store can be madness. So while I love a good girls shopping trip as much as the next person, Nordstrom is a place I love to shop online and here is why.
First and foremost, Nordstrom has FREE SHIPPING + RETURNS! So you can do as many orders as you need and you aren’t worrying about all the shipping charges or not being able to switch out sizes if you order multiple to find the right fit. You can choose to have items shipped directly to you or do the convenient curbside pick up, which I love.
If you are worried about sizing and fit on items since you won’t be going in store, don’t be. You are more likely to find your size still available online than in limited stock in store. And if you need to order multiple, the free returns make it easy and worry free.
Another BIG thing to note is stores all have different stocks of different items, but EVERYTHING in the sale is available online. So it is your safest bet to see and have access to all items.
:: SHOP FIRST, THINK LATER
I know that sounds insane and slightly irresponsible, but let me explain. This is 100% not a tip I would normally give under any circumstance at all. I am the queen of minimalism, and less is more. But with the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale you have to do things a little differently and change your mindset to “if you want it…even a little…grab it”! And here is why I say that. Items in this sale sell out so fast! You might just refresh your page, or wait to hear back from your bestie on if she likes something too, and you will be too late.
Now I’m not saying to blow your bank account and keep everything. Think of the buying it as more like adding it to your dressing room. The dressing room in this scenario is your house. You can get a feel for the items. Try them on with different things in your closet and make your decision there. As I mentioned, the beauty of Nordstrom is that they always have free returns. So instead of regretting not grabbing something before it sold out, you can go a little wild. Then sort through what you really need when you are less frazzled and more focused.
:: THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX
Last but not least is to remember the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale includes ALL the departments at Nordstrom, not just Women’s Clothing. Bloggers tend to focus all of their sale highlights on women’s clothing, when some of my best finds in the past sometimes come from other areas. We are talking everything from Kids and Home to Mens and Beauty. These other categories are often overlooked and can hold some great deals!! I love to shop back to school basics for my kids. So when you are making your pre-game plan, don’t forget the rest of the fam!

I know, buying yourself socks is about as thrilling as getting them as a kid for Christmas. BUT these socks have been such a great find. They are the perfect mini crew sock for high tops so you don’t have any rubbing, but they aren’t sticking out awkwardly either. Loving them!

You know I have a thing for organization, and I’m obsessed with these labels. Having the cohesive beautiful type across all you items looks so good. You can grab them for full pantry or spices.
This was such a fun purchase to add a little bling. Looks legit, but comes in at $50! Win in my book!
: OUTDOOR RUGS –
Summer is all about outdoor decor refresh and that includes your rugs! Mine had seen better days so I swapped them out for this fun stripe and layered this one on top.
We have reached the days of living by the pool so good sunscreen is a must. I have been LOVING this glo screen for myself instead of wearing makeup. Gives the nicest subtle tint while keeping you protected. You can check out my other sunscreen favorites here.
