I was surprised that this year, the most exciting category is by far BEAUTY!! There are so many amazing steals on kits for skincare, makeup, and hair that you are going to love! First up let’s talk skincare. If you follow me over on Instagram, you know that I stick to my tried and true products for years and years, so I was so happy to see a few of them featured in this years Beauty lineup. One of my all time “made for me” kits from Tula, the PMD Microderm and Clean I swear by, as well as the glo pro microneedling set I love. And I couldn’t do this beauty post and not include my all time favorite tanning brand. They have not one but two of their solutions at killer prices!! I have done hair for almost 20 years now, so you could say my taste in products is a little on the particular side. When I pulled up the Beauty section, I was both shocked and thrilled to see the Olaplex Maintenance set included. It is hands down my favorite for my hair and such a great price point!! My curling iron and blow dryer also made the list!
Last but not least as far as deals in beauty goes is makeup. I don’t wear a lot of makeup, so if I recommend a product you know it is tried and true! I think my top two must haves in makeup are the Charlotte Tillbury set and the Laura Mercier setting powder. I’ve used both for a couple of years now and love love them!

First up, let’s talk your about deals for your living space. My top favorite is this duvet cover. As you’ve probably noticed in our home images, I love a good duvet cover. It gives your rooms such a clean classic look and pulls the rest of the accents together. Another favorite in the bedroom + living section of the the Home sale items are these barefoot dreams blankets. They are by far the coziest blanket I have ever tried, and a favorite to give for gifts for those hard to by for. This year you can get it in lots of classic colorsor fun animal prints. Anyone else just dreaming and wishing summer could last forever?! I am not ready for the change going back to school brings, especially with all the unknown this year. Plus I am loving soaking up my people for as long as possible! One of our very favorite things about Summer is celebrating our boys! Houston’s birthday was earlier in July, and our sweet Hudson turns 11 today!! I know everyone feels this way about their kids, but Hudson is a dream come true. He is all things good and wonderful in this world and I wish I could have 20 of him! To celebrate his big day, I thought it would be fun to share 11 fun things about him!
When he makes a goal or wants to achieve something, nothing can stand in his way. I love that about him because he never needs to be forced or pushed to try harder. He is his own best motivator.
2- Hudson is the BEST big brother.
Like it is unreal. I constantly find him doing the sweetest things all on his own for his siblings. From painting Harper’s nails, to getting down and playing imaginative games with Houston, he is the sweetest brother in all the land.
3- Hudson is such a gentleman, even to the girls his own age.
I never have to worry about him being kind or polite. He is always opening doors and going out of his way to help others.
4- Hudson is naturally athletic and so dang talented
I love that he doesn’t let it show in his personality. He is still as humble as they come and always trying to do better and work harder. I just hope he saved some talent for the rest of the family!
5- Hudson is so inclusive of others.
Out of all the things teachers and neighbors have ever said about my kids, this one is at the top of my favorites. He always goes out of his way to make sure other people are included at school and just as he plays with his friends. Differences never matter to him and he makes sure everyone has a friend.
6- Hudson is the very best helper.
He is always the first to wake up and do all his chores without ever being reminded, and usually when he is finished he asks me what else he can do to help me out. He also loves to babysit and is so good at it as well. The babies, especially Harper, adore him.
7- Hudson is such a hard worker.
He never has to be reminded to do his work, or asked to redo something when it comes to chores. When it comes to sports, he is always wanting to put in the extra hours to get better and work hard at it.
8- Hudson loves to bake with me, and has become quite the cake master.
Making cakes together has become one of our favorite one on one times, and he is getting so good at it. He recently started trying his hand at cooking too and made our Chicken Alfredo all on his own for dinner last week!
9- Hudson is always serving others quietly behind the scenes.
He always has his focus on those around him. Whether it is looking out for his friends and classmates like I mentioned, or just helping out around the house, he is always quietly serving those around him without looking for extra recognition or anything. Somehow he always knows when I could just use an extra hand or a break with the babies and will come and take them to play. He takes the time to ask how my day is and what he can do to help, even when I know there are things with his friends he would rather be doing. I just always see him doing the smallest things to make another persons day a little brighter and I love that about him.
10- Hudson has the sweetest relationship with Joe.
He wakes up early to workout with him and practice for baseball, and is always intently taking his advice and just wanting to learn from him. I love seeing how close they are and how happy they are doing what they love together.
11- Hudson is so dang fun and hilarious to be around!
When I look at Hudson, I see so much of Joe! And I’m sure some of you do too when you see the amazing faces (like some of the pictures here) he pulls in our Sunday pictures. He doesn’t love the social media spotlight. But he is honestly one of the funniest and fun people you will ever meet. He loves for people to be happy and will go out of his way to be crazy and crack jokes to get a smile.

As you can see, we are pretty big fans of our birthday boy around here! He is as good as they come and we feel pretty lucky he is ours!
Hey Guys! Hunter here for a fun Teen Takeover! Ok, so is it just me or am I the only one that loves smoothies and açai bowls?! Açai bowls are my favorite!! I swear I could eat them every day for every meal if That is how much I love them! Shakes and Smoothies are for sure my Mom and I’s go to in the summer months, so I thought I would share how I make my acai bowl into a yummy smoothie.
Ok here is what I do. I don’t know if I would call it a recipe, because I honestly just eyeball it, but you are going to love it!! First I add the Sambason Acai pack (we usually get them from Costco). Then I add in a handful of strawberries and 1/2 of a banana. After that I add in honey + apple juice. Most people like to add the honey at the end as kind of a topping, but I like to add it to the mixture before hand. Once you have all those ingredients in, just blend it all together until smooth. When it’s all blended up, I put it in a bowl and add some granola and more honey!! If you can’t tell, I love honey! Sometimes I will add strawberries on top too! Then you just enjoy it!

As you can see, basics are always pieces I have my eye on. From great basic tops like this one, a classic knit dress, to jeans, the basics are so great this year! One thing the sale is never lacking is great cardigans for Fall, and based off the preview you’ll have a lot of cute ones to choose from!

In all my years of being a mom, I never thought Back to School could be such a hot topic. With this endless summer, we have wondered if “back to school” will ever come, and when it does what will it look like? Our district just announced we will be going back to school 4 days a week, with a lot of new rules and ways of doing things in place. While part of me goes through feelings of worry/stress about it all, another part of me is so excited for the kids to be able to get back to a hint of normalcy, learning, and seeing their friends.
With back to school comes one of our favorite traditions, back to school shopping! While it looks a little different this year with most of our shopping done online, that doesn’t mean you can’t make it fun! So today I am teaming up with Walmart to share my tips on how to have the most successful back to school shopping experience + some of our favorite go to basics!
:: TAKE STOCK OF WHAT YOU HAVE/NEED FIRST
Before I will start any Back to School shopping, I sit down with each of my kids and we do a closet clean out. We take every single thing out of the closet and put it in categories. Then together, not just me, we go through each category. First we go through and take out everything they say they don’t like anymore or will not wear. I’ve learned there is no point keeping it if it isn’t something they love. They aren’t going to wear it and it is just going to take up space!
After we’ve separated out the pieces we aren’t loving, we then go through and try on EVERYTHING else, so we can weed out the items that don’t fit right anymore. From there I make a list of each category and the needs per child so we are never over stocking the closets. Simple, minimal wardrobes is always my goal.
:: BASICS ARE BEST FOR BACK TO SCHOOL
When it comes to shopping for my kids, I have found that basics are best. Not only are they so versatile, but they are usually a lot more affordable as well! With this year looking a little different, I love knowing that basics are something my kids always need, and can wear whether they are at school or distance learning from home. Walmart is such a great place to find go to basics on a budget. Last year we were so impressed with the selection that we gave it another try this year and were just as happy! We found tee’s for boys as low as $7, and ___for girls as low as ____. You can shop some of our favorite finds for both boys + girls below.
Last but not least, make it fun. Everything is so new and different this year for our kids, so try and bring in fun whenever you can. If you’ve been here for a while, you know one of our favorite things are our kids dates. Each month we try to take the kids on one on one dates with Joe or I. It is such a great time to connect, see how their doing, and enjoy them. One of our favorites for summer is back to school shopping. While I don’t think we will do as much in store, you can still make it fun + personal. Set aside a time where you and your child can sit down together. Grab your favorite treats, uninterrupted, and make a wish list. Let them take the reigns and feel a little more grown up navigating the websites and finding what they love! Walmart makes it super easy with everything categorized into great fashion picks and school supplies.

While it is my favorite sale of the year, it is also for sure the most stressful sale of the year. The pressure to shop all the things at the sale can be a little overwhelming. But have no fear, I’m here to help!! I’ve shopped this sale for YEARS.By doing that I have learned a few tips and tricks that have saved me not only time, but the regret of missing out on some steals! Today I’m sharing 5 pre-game tips that will make your shopping experience go so much smoother. And hopefully leave you feeling stress free and stocked up on what you need!
One of the biggest tips I can give you to shopping the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is to know your dates and have a game plan. Depending on your status with Nordstrom, you are able to shop on different dates. Since the sale is made up of all new and HIGHLY anticipated items, things sell out fast. The earlier you can shop the better!!
If you aren’t already a big Nordstrom shopper with Icon or Ambassador Status, but want early access, you MUST be a Nordstrom Card holder. I am typically not a fan of store cards, but this one is completely worth it for the Anniversary Sale alone. Early access allows you to shop 6 DAYS before the sale is open to the public. Yes you read that right…card holders get to start shopping a full 6 DAYS before everyone else. So while the sale is open to the general public from August 19 – August 30th, you’ll start shopping on the 13th! Being able to shop early access can often times be the difference in getting items you had your eye on.
And as an added bonus, right now if you are approved for a Nordstrom Card, you get a $60 gift card if you make a purchase the day you are approved! Save yourself the FOMO and sign up now!
:: TAKE A PRE-SALE INVENTORY
Unlike most sales where you can just kind of browse and find anything that sparks your interest, to fully benefit form the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale you need to go in with a plan. Now is the perfect time to go through your closet, your hubby’s closet, and your kids and do a little clean out. Get rid of the old and make a list of what you really truly need.
By doing this, those items can be your priority pieces. You aren’t just throwing money out on things you are already stocked up on because you are frazzled. Think long term as well. These are fall pieces you are shopping. So while you don’t need that amazing leather jacket or pair of knee high boots now, you won’t want to be paying full price for them in a few months either. Of course you’ll find items on your list that catch your eye to grab too. But having that list of priority purchases helps you stay focused and get what you really need.
New to the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale this year is a full sale preview!! Starting July 24 you will be able to head over to Nordstrom.com and preview the entire sale. This is going to make a huge difference in making your list and knowing if this years sale is something you’d like to shop.
:: SHOP ONLINE
If you think the sale sounds a little crazy on a typical day, adding in efforts to maintain social distancing is going to add to that 10 fold. So while I love a good girls shopping trip as much as the next person, Nordstrom is a place I love to shop online and here is why.
Nordstrom has FREE SHIPPING + RETURNS! So you can do as many orders as you need and you aren’t worrying about all the shipping charges or not being able to switch out sizes if you order multiple to find the right fit. You can choose to have items shipped directly to you or do the convenient curbside pick up, which I love.
If you are worried about sizing and fit on items since you won’t be going in store, don’t be. You are more likely to find your size still available online than in limited stock in store. Also, I will be shopping the sale a little earlier and will have a try on guide (similar to this from my home) with sizing info up asap to help you see and know the fit of things. And with free returns, you can always change your mind!
:: SHOP FIRST, THINK LATER
I know that sounds insane and slightly irresponsible, but let me explain. This is 100% not a tip I would normally give under any circumstance. I am the queen of minimalism, and less is more. But with the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale you have to do things a little differently and change your mindset to “if you want it…even a little…grab it”! And here is why I say that. Items in this sale sell out so fast! You might juts refresh your page, or wait to hear back from your bestie on if she likes something too, and you will be too late.
Now I’m not saying to blow your bank account and keep everything. You are basically bringing the options you considered home to you to get a feel for, try on with different things in your closet and make your decision there. The beauty of Nordstrom is that they always have free returns. So instead of regretting not grabbing something before it sold out, you can go a little wild. Then sort through what you really need when you are less frazzled and more focused.
:: THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX
Last but not least is to remember the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale involves ALL the departments at Nordstrom, not just Women’s Clothing. We are talking everything from Kids and Home to Mens and Beauty. These other categories are often overlooked and can hold some great deals!! I love to shop back to school basics for my kids. Some of my favorites have come from some really incredible deals for them too! So when you are making your pre-game plan, don’t forget the rest of the fam!

Hey Guys! It’s Hunter, here for another Teen Takeover!!! Today we are talking all things CELL PHONES! Lots of people have been asking about my phone + if I have rules on it. And the answer is YES!! I have a lot …like so many rules. So I thought I would explain those in a little more detail and the deal I have with my parents in order to even have a phone.
Where do I even start with the rules. There are so many! I know it is for my own good, but they are still hard! Here are the main rules:
I have to have my screen time tracker turned on always, and I have a time limit for different apps, music, texting, pretty much everything. This lets my parents decide what apps I’m allowed to have, and how see how much time I am spending on them.
I DO NOT have internet, email or honestly any social media app AT ALL. Also, I cannot purchase or delete anything without my parents passcode. So everything I do goes through them. I don’t even have the app store on my phone!
I also have “downtime” set up on my phone. Downtime is set at 9:00 pm to 9:00 am. This is when I am not able to use my phone. Sometimes when I am out with friends my mom will extend the time but for the most part those are my hours.
I am not allowed to take my phone downstairs in my room or use it on Sunday or during family time.
The phone is my “parents phones”. They do not give us electronics as gifts. That way they have full rights to look at it and/or take it away whenever they want.
So as you can see, although I do have a phone, it comes with a lot of rules. It makes it kind of hard sometimes, but it’s all good! My relationship with my parents is really good and I talk with them about anything + everything. We discuss rules + they are willing to see my side and adjust things sometimes too. I’m just so grateful to have a phone, but not feel like I need to be glued to it like a lot of young kids.
Another option my mom did for my brother and sister is the new Gabb phone. I wish it would’ve existed when I was younger so I didn’t have to have the embarrassing flip phone! It looks just like an iphone, but doesn’t have any internet, and can only call/text the people your parents program in. You can take pictures but not send any. I don’t know about you guys, but I’m alllll about the online shopping. Quarantine shopping has felt like my time to shine! Plus it’s all retail therapy right?! Haha! As a busy mom, anything that saves me time is a win in my book! Of course one of my most visited websites is an obvious for a lot of us, the amazing AMAZON! Seriously if it is not on Amazon, is it even worth having?! Besides ordering the necessities, I’ve found some awesome things I’m loving on there too! I always love hearing what my girlfriends find on Amazon, so I thought it would be fun to do a little round up of “What’s in My Cart”, Amazon Style!
Amazon is SUCH a great place for affordable graphic tees! Some of my very favorite I have found for myself and Hunter are from Amazon! :: SUMMERY SKIRT
Hunter and I both LOVE this skirt! The fit and length are perfect and I love that its so fun+ casual for summer. If the pattern is too much for your style, they have about a million other options including solid colors! And its under $20!
Another great Amazon find lately is the dresses! They have really stepped up their game in cute affordable options! This one above is so comfy, almost feels like more of a nightgown, but would be so cute styled casually for summer. You can’t go wrong with a good t-shirt dress like this one either. I love styling them with cute sneakers and a baseball hat for Hudson’s games or nicer sandals and accessories for a date night.
It is no secret how much I love these bracelets. I think you’ll find me wearing them in just about every picture these days! They are so great + so versatile. While they look like gold metal bangles, they are actually like a rubbery plastic, so they don’t make any noise or scratch other jewelry and are actually comfortable to wear!! The price point is a little high, but with how often I wear them I think they are totally worth it! It comes with 9 bracelets in a set so you could always split with a girlfriend too!
These glasses are one my top requested Amazon links, and one I highly highly recommend. All of us are on screens of some kind quite a bit these days, and these glasses make such a difference!! Plus super affordable at under $20!
:: BASEBALL HATS
Every single time I wear a baseball hat over on Instagram, I get messages asking where I find them! And usually my answer is Amazon!! They always have fun color combos for the teams I like which puts a little more feminine spin on it.
The biker short trend is HUGE right now and I am such a fan! They are great for a summer workout, but I actually loved them even more styled with a sweatshirt or baggy top like above. This pair is especially good because it has a pocket!!
:: SWEATSHIRT
This sweatshirt has been such a lucky find. I kind of purchased it on a whim and have been so happy that I ordered it in other colors. Super cozy and looks so cute paired with biker shorts or denim shorts for now and will work all year long!
I wish I had a picture of these pajamasto show you but we just got them! That being said we are already so in love with them. They are the perfect soft stretchy material and my kids never want to take them off! And bonus they come in a million colors!

How in the world has it already been another month?! My mind is blown at how crazy fast this summer is flying by! If you’ve been following along, a few months ago we started a new “series” here on the blog where we highlight the most asked for links for the month all in one place. A highlight reel if you will! These two items were at the top of our links request list and for good reason. Let’s start with the goodness that is the shorts. They have the perfect amount of stretch to make them so comfy, and the length is perfection. Not so long where you are thinking I might as well be wearing pants, but long enough that you feel covered and age appropriate. The thermal is another win and I can’t wait to wear it all year long. It is a looser fit so you could size down for sure, but I love the casual look it gives paired with these shorts or some cute bikers.
When I put this set on to run some errands last week, Houston told me I had to change because I was wearing my pajamas!! While I think you can easily accessorize and style it to not give the pajama vibe, the good news is it FEELS like pajamas and is my new favorite favorite for summer. So so comfortable, I already ordered in other colors! Definitely deserving of its spot on the top links requested.
Speaking of feeling like pajamas, this set is another huge win! Again it is the most comfortable thing ever. Perfect for this weird in between not really real life schedule we are all in. I love that it is so cozy for around the house, but with the right styling and accessories is great for a night out too. When those come back to us.
When it comes to Summer, I am all about pieces that are loose, comfortable, and breezy to help survive the hot temperatures. Dresses are such a great staple to have. They are great for hot summers, but easy switch out your sandals for shoes and layer with a jacket to carry them into Fall or Spring. I was so thrilled when I stumbled upon this Lace Shift Dress + this T-Shirt dress from Target. Both are such a steal on the price and so so cute! I’ve been getting rave reviews from all of you of how perfect they are for summer, earning them both a spot in our top links.
The tie-dye trend also made its way in to our most requested links this month and I am not surprised. I shared how originally I was not feeling the trend and thought it was a little over the top. If you know lululemon, this is so out of the ordinary for them, so I jumped on as fast as I could! To make things easier on you, I’ve rounded up some of my very favorites for you below!
When it comes to lululemon, the leggings as you all probably know are heaven sent. Feel like your naked while holding you in and accentuating all the good curves all at the same time. A lesser known champion they have is the biker short. If you’ve jumped on the biker short band wagon, then you NEED to give the bikers a try. They were my first pair and got me hooked. The compression is so good on the waistband, where they hold you in nice and tight, but they are so buttery soft you won’t want to take them off!!
Lululemon sports bras and tanks are another big win for me. I love a fun design on the back and pop of color, but still want things to be functional for the ladies. And they definitely check both boxes. My favorite is probably this one, which is on sale for $29!!!
While the workout wear is unbeatable, one of my favorite things about lululemon is the items that pass as everyday athleisure wear too. But what doesn’t get as much hype is their tops. This long sleeve top is my absolute favorite. I have it in a few colors because I love it so much! It is great as a workout cover up over your sports bra, but it so cute for a more sporty every day look too! And this coat!! I know it is summer and a million degrees, but this is for sure one of the best investments I’ve ever made and it is on sale!!
Hey Guys! It’s Hunter here with another Teen Takeover! Today we are talking all things skincare + makeup! We got a lot of requests for kind of a step by step of my typical morning beauty routine + what I use, so I thought I would share today!
:: SKINCARE
First up in my routine is skincare. I really don’t do a lot, but my mom introduced me to Tula and I have really liked their face wash. I love using it with my PMD Clean. It is like a little vibrating face cleaner that helps get deeper into your pores and kind of exfoliate too. I like it because it is super easy to use and helps prevent more breakouts. Another thing I love for skincare are face masks. My friends and I love doing face masks when we have girls nights. They are so fun! Our favorite so far has been the star bright. It is so cute and has little stars all over it! And in addition to them being super fun for girls night, they help your skin too!

:: MAKEUP
So a lot of you have been wanting to know what my makeup routine is. And to be honest, I actually don’t really wear makeup very often! But when I do wear makeup, all I wear is mascara and lipgloss or chapstick. Super simple! I really like the natural look and don’t think you need makeup to look pretty! Girls you are already pretty just the way you are!
When I do wear mascara, my two favorite options are this one from Tarte called “The Big Ego” and the L’Oreal Paris Double Extend. Since my eyes are kind of sensitive, I like the L’Oreal Paris Double Extend a little bit more because when you want to wash it off it comes off in little tubes and its easier to get off. The big ego mascara is a great one for making your lashes look longer and thicker.
The chapstick is use is called Total Hydration Chapstick. I love that it has a little pink tint to it, but nothing crazy. My favorite gloss I use sometimes is NYX Butter Gloss. It moisturizes really well but has a little more color than the chapstick. Another new one I just started trying is my mom’s favorite from Shine called goals. It is a great natural color.
