What is your favorite season? I am definitely a summer girl through and through! Give me all the heat and sunshine!! I love spending time by the pool or at the beach, and soaking up all the extra time with my people home from school! If you knew me a couple of years ago, eating healthy or the thought of even paying attention to what I eat was not on my mind. I love my sweets and was blessed with good genetics so it wasn’t something I paid a lot of attention to.
But I started to notice that I wasn’t happy with how I felt. I was constantly tired and lacking energy to get what I needed done. On top of that, I wanted to build more muscle so I knew I was ready for a change. I cannot even begin to tell you how happy I have been with the changes, the energy, and the mental clarity. Since I get asked a lot what I eat in a day, I thought it would be helpful to share a little day in the life, food diary edition. I am not strict on the exact times, but this will give you a good idea.
First off, before I dive into that, one thing I wanted to address. I get a lot of questions on if I’m on any kind of diet, or follow a strict meal plan, and the answer is no. I am a firm believer that a diet and restriction is not the answer. My mom always said no diet ever works. For me, I knew I wouldn’t stick to anything too demanding, and that listening to my body while making healthier choices was the best way to start.
That being said, I did have my good friends Erika + JJ of Clean Simple Eats calculate my macros for me to use as a guideline and it has helped a ton in actually seeing how MUCH I NEED to EAT, vs the typical mind set of how much I need to restrict. While this may not be for everyone, it has been a huge help to me and may be helpful to you too! So here is the food diary!
I always try (key word try, not always successful) to get my workout in before the kids wake up, so I am done at around 7:30 to help them get ready for school. Once I am done with my workout, I drink my celery juice. Every time I share this I get comments and questions on it, so I will address a few of the main ones here.
. Is it good? …NO. It does not taste good at all, but I suck it up and drink it because of the benefits.
. Do you add anything to it? … No, I personally do just straight celery juice.
. What are the benefits? … Benefits include improved digestion, reduced inflammation, boosts overall gut health, lowers blood sugar and aides in relieving migraines.

Around 8:00 am :

Once I get all the big kids off to school and things settle down, I usually take the time to have the rest of my breakfast or really a mid morning snack. I’m all about quick and easy. My go to favorites are usually one of these delicious protein bites or some greek yogurt.
Lunch (at about 12-12:30) :
Again I am all about quick and simple while trying to make healthy choices. My lunch is usually 1 egg + 1/2 cup egg whites with cheese and avocado or a turkey + cheese sandwich with avocado.
2:00 ish (snack time…yes again!)
Around mid afternoon I am hungry again and ready for another snack. With snacks I really try to focus on protein. My usual is a Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip G2G bar (KAILEE for 15% off). Oh my gosh you guys, if you haven’t tried them yet you must!! They are seriously one of my very favorite treats. My kids are even hooked on them now too. Our extra fridge in the garage has turned into the G2G fridge, because they are so yummy nice and cold.
Dinner (at 4:00 or 4:30) :
We eat dinner a little earlier than the norm for two reasons. One I think it helps from having the little people eat your entire house in empty snacks because they are starving. And two because we are busy and it is the time that works best for us to be together.

Evening Snack (at around 6 and 8) :
If you haven’t noticed, snacks are key for me and I am eating a lot! My go to evening snack for 6 ish is usually one of the protein muffins or cookies from Fed Up.
At around 8 my new favorite go to snack/meal is Magic Spoon Cereal. I think it is the best (get the fruity) and again a great option that is packed with protein! It is sweet enough to curb my sweet tooth but isn’t packed with it.

I think that sums up my food diary for a day. As you can see it isn’t anything life altering or crazy. Just pretty simple. My biggest thing I have learned that works for me is to eat every 2-3 hours. That way I am never totally starving so I over eat, but I am not stuffing myself completely full either. Doing smaller more frequent meals has worked best for me! Anyone else feel like life is in a constant busy stage of go go go? My to do lists seem to be multiplying, even when I’m crossing things off!! I’ve started to notice that certain habits I’ve gotten into at the beginning of the week, make a big difference when it comes to my productivity. So today I thought I’d share 3 of those simple tips for you to try too!
: PRIORITIZE YOUR TO DO LIST
The first thing I do to help simplify and set up my week for success is a brain dump of my to do list. I take my work calendar, the kids school + extra curricular calendar, and everything in between, and get them all in one central place by priority. Starting my week off by simplifying and organizing carpools, work hours and appointments helps me feel much more productive. Doing this helps me to accomplish so much more and feel like I’m spending my time wisely.
: PLAN YOUR MEALS
Next up in setting up my week for success is always meal planning. I’m not talking full on meal prep, because I don’t like to hold myself accountable for too much. But meal planning has made such a difference. This means taking stock of my pantry/fridge, and making a list of what needs restocking.
: ORDER YOUR GROCERIES
Last but definitely not least is ordering my groceries from Walmart’s Online Pickup & Delivery. If you haven’t used this service before, this needs to be at the top of your to do list this week!! I have used it for a couple of years now, and I can honestly say it is my favorite mom hack. As a busy mom, it is the most convenient time saver.
You can order straight from the website or on the app from your phone. I prefer the app because it is so efficient and convenient. I love having the app on my phone. When I run out of something while making dinner or think of something while I’m out running errands, I can quickly pull it up and add the item to my cart before I forget!
Once you have the app downloaded and you’ve created a profile with your closest Walmartselected, you just add the items to your cart, as if you were virtually shopping the store. You can shop for groceries or add fashion items, school supplies, toys, and more to your order. As long as your order reaches the $35 minimum, there is no added charge for pickup! (small fee for the delivery option)
Being able to add items to my cart, order, and know that I can do a quick pick up after dropping the kids off at school or schedule for delivery is my favorite way to simplify my week and set it up to be more productive.

I know these are the simplest tips to being more productive. But for me they have been SUCH a game changer to how I start my week. Figuring out little things we can change that make big impacts on our time and efficiency are what its all about in this parenting game! One of the most commonly used storage spaces in our homes can tend to be overlooked when it comes to organization and making things look neat and clean. Any guesses?! It is the refrigerator! It is constantly being opened and looked through. The stock inside is constantly changing. So why aren’t we making sure that the organizational systems inside not only work functionally but also look beautiful? It’s totally doable and you’ll love the results, so today I’m going to give you a few tips on just how to do that.
: GET RID OF PACKAGING
This tip is going to make the biggest difference when it comes to how your fridge looks. If you’re going for that “WOW!”, Lifestyles of The Rich and Famous sort of fridge, you’ve got to get rid of ugly packaging. I really love to use a reusable clear egg carton and ceramic or reusable berry baskets for fruits and veggies (this is also helpful because we can wash our fruits and veggies in them and store them beautifully. Anything that must stay in its packaging, I contain in a labeled plastic fridge bin. Which leads me to my next tip…
: USE BINS FOR BULK
What are you or your kids frequently grabbing out of the fridge? If you’re always grabbing sandwich ingredients like sliced cheese, lettuce, mayo, pickles, and mustard, consider making a sandwich basket so that it’s all in one place and easy to grab. Another great option for concealing things that don’t look clean and uniform is to make a condiment caddy that has a handle so you can easily take it in and out when necessary.
: DIVIDE AND CONQUER
Did you know that you can use expandable drawer dividers in fridge drawers as well as regular drawers? This is seriously a game changer for fridge organization because drawer space can tend to be pretty minimal. Now you can separate one drawer into two or three compartments and organize and separate items according to what you like to keep on hand.
: LINE UP YOUR LABELS
Lastly, if you keep multiples of cans, jars, or cartons, make sure they’re in a line with the first to be used at the front and that all labels and handles are facing the same direction. Water bottles look so much better when they’re taken out of their packaging and placed in rows, all facing the same direction or in something like thisto contain them. It makes a big difference and is a perfect chore for little ones.

One of my favorite hidden gems in our home office is our charging station. It’s really nothing extravagant, but it is something we use daily and something I think more families would love to implement into their home system. With growing kids and teens, I knew we were going to be entering the technology stages. I wanted all the devices to be safe with me at night or when charging and I am so glad we kept that in mind when we were building. If it is something you are interested in implementing, I’m sharing all the details below!
: HOW DID YOU SET IT UP?
When we were building, we had the electrician add a power source behind our office shelving. With that hidden outlet, we are able to plug in a power strip that has become our “charging station” or hub for all things electronics. It is a place for all iPads, watches, phones, and other small devices to take a break and recharge. I love having a place where everything goes at the end of day not only because it helps keep things from getting lost, but also the peace of mind of knowing when kids have technology.
: WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?
There are a lot of benefits to having a charging station or hub in your home, but I will share my top 2.
First up is the sleep benefit. How many of you go to sleep staring at your screen? Pretty sure I could raise my hand more often than not. But if I am good and take advantage of the charging station instead, I am so much happier. Plugging in your phone in another room before bed not only gives you more time to read or have meaningful conversation, but reducing blue light before bed is great for reducing stress and increasing healthier sleep. I love to have quality time with Joe and the kids before bed and eliminating devices from the equation has been so helpful.
Another big reason I love having a charging station is that it helps us “patrol” the devices in our home better. Joe and I are able to keep better watch and know that our children aren’t overly using devices or using them unsupervised in bedrooms. Just like we go to bed at night, all our devices do too!
: HOW CAN I MAKE MY OWN CHARGING STATION?
First things first, I’d recommend gathering up all of your charging cords, blocks, and docks. As you go through your collection of cords, assess whether any of them need to be replaced. Frayed plastic coatings and exposed wires are not only likely not charging your device well, but they’re dangerous. Amazon carries most common charging cords.
Decide where you’d like your charging station to be in your home… and if you only want it to be accessible to adults or also accessible to children. If you’re a parent that regulates access to devices, I’d recommend finding a place for your charging station that is somewhere where you or other adults in your home can control it. For many, a master bedroom or bathroom is a great spot. Like I said, we keep ours in our home office. The kids know the rules and have set timers on their devices as well.
Now let’s talk about concealment. Cords in general can tend to be an eyesore so if possible, I like to keep them concealed. In some kitchens or offices, there will be cabinets or drawers with access to power outlets. This is perfect. If that’s not an option in your home, you can create your own. If you’d like to create your own concealed charging station, you can use a shelf or drawer in a TV Stand, drawer, dresser, buffet or console and feed the cords through the back so that they are not seen. Utilizing a long power strip with multiple outlets is key.
Amazon also makes charging blocks with multiple USB ports so that you can plug in a few at a time. And if access to a concealed power source and shelf isn’t something you can easily find in your home, there are many products available on Amazon that are their own charging stations.

Most importantly, set this up as a family. Make sure the rules are agreed upon and well known so it is effective! When can devices be used? When do they need to be plugged in and put away? I know this is kind of information overload, but it all boils down to a pretty simple and incredible product! Our home office is honestly one of my favorite spaces in our home. It’s clean lines, floor length windows, and relaxing design are my favorite. When we built our home, I knew that I wanted our office to be able to be a versatile workspace for the whole family. Our kids can do home work and projects. I can do work calls and meetings. And Joe can do research and planning. It was important to me that we had plenty of storage space that blended seamlessly with the overall design. The built in cabinets worked perfectly for us! With them being floor to ceiling, we are able to utilize that wall for storage space for kids arts and crafts, paper storage, gift wrap, and more.
Aside from that wall of storage, I really wanted to keep everything else simplistic. We utilize house plants to bring a natural and homey element to the space, but everything else is clean and sleek. Here are three ways I think we’re able to achieve this clean, organized look in our office space.
: GO PAPERLESS WHERE POSSIBLE
This may be the most important tip of all. I’ve spoken about it before when I talk about our home intake stations. Eliminate what you bring inside the house. It is the most helpful thing you can do. When you get your mail, stand by your recycling bin and/or shredder and get rid of 90% of that junk mail. There are very few things that you need to keep. So, my biggest tip is to opt for paperless billing and statements. Get more organized in your email inbox, so that you don’t need to have stacks of papers all over your home and office.
Our floor to ceiling cabinetry is on one end of the spectrum, but there are so many ways that you can incorporate hidden storage into your home office space. Keep items that are normally on your desk hidden away. It helps the space to feel more clarifying. The more you can see, the more overwhelmed you may feel. I definitely recommend having a desk with drawer(s) so that you can store things like pens, notepads, staplers, blue light glasses, etc. Many times you can find bureaus with pull out drawer storage for files as well as cabinets for baskets or bins of materials and those can make beautiful centerpieces for an office with artwork above and plants on top.
: KEEP FILE FOLDER TABS ON ONE SIDE
This is an easy tip that I think many overlook. When you clean out and organize your file storage, instead of alternating where the “tab” is on the folder (many packs come with left, middle, and right adjusted tabs), put them all on one side so that you can easily skim through to find what you need or alphabetize. Not only does this streamline the look of your files overall, but it’s much easier to find what you need!
