You guys!! How did this happen? I swear I blinked any my tiny little Houston jumped to 5 YEARS OLD!! It is so crazy to me! It seems like the time has flown by, but at the same time it is hard to remember life before him. He is all things peace and happiness and love and has us all wrapped around his finger! Since we are celebrating his big fifth birthday, I thought it would be fun to share 5 things about Houston we love or make him unique so you can get to know him a little better!
:: HE IS OUR MIRACLE BABY
One thing a lot of people don’t know about Houston is that he is our little miracle baby. Between Hayden and Houston I had 3 miscarriages, and he was actually supposed to be a twin but we lost that baby as well. You can read more about our story here. I honestly still look back and wonder how we got through such a hard time. But we got as a result with Houston as our miracle baby was worth every tear and bit of sadness. He is such a light and place of peace in our family and can always make everyone of us smile.
:: HE IS TINY BUT MIGHTY
As you can see by looking at him, Houston is our tiny guy. He is by far the smallest any of our kids have ever been, and Harper is starting to pass him right up. But what he lacks in size he makes up for in strength and power. He is so dang tough!! With everything he tries he completely shocks us because the boy doesn’t give up. He could swim floaty free with the big kids at 3. And he can throw and hit better and harder than kids older than him. You don’t expect it when you see him, but he is so tough and motivated and we love that about him!
:: HE IS A RULE FOLLOWER
In addition to being my little place of peace, Houston is also such a good boy. He loves following the rules and doing what is right. When I made chore charts for the bigger kids, he asked for one too and he LOVES letting me know when he has checked off his daily to dos. He never questions or asks what he needs to do before he can play, and is usually the first to volunteer to do extra jobs for me. My cleaning gene definitely rubbed off on him too!
:: HE IS PARTICULAR, JUST LIKE ME
I am the first to admit I am very particular about how I like things. My love for things to be clean and in their place is not a secret to very many, and Houston is my only child this has rubbed off on. He DOES NOT like his hands or face to be dirty or messy at all. When he eats he always wants to use a specific spoon and just likes things very routine. I think it is so funny and love it because he is the only one that is just like me…and it drives Joe crazy! haha!
:: HE IS OBSESSED WITH HUNTER
Hunter was the perfect age gap from Houston to take the role as his mini mom. He was kind of her training on all things babies and where she got her love for little kids. Because of that, they have the sweetest bond. When given a choice on who helps him things, or who he gets to be around she is usually at the top of the list. I love seeing their little bond and hope it stays that way forever.

As you can see from these little things, he is such a sweet little guy and so easy to love. He is the perfect big brother to Harper, and the big kids can’t get enough of him. We are so lucky to have the silly and happy light he brings into our family!
Hello Tie-Dye!!! This fun 2020 trend is taking over everywhere you look! From t-shirts and dresses to swimsuits and even shoes, the tie-dye trend is spreading like wild fire! I’ll be honest, when it first started to make its appearance it was a little much for me. But seeing it incorporated in some more subtle styles has me LOVING it! So today I thought it would be fun to roundup some of my favorite tie dye styles! Hopefully it helps give you some different ways to try out the trend for yourself!
The first and most obvious way we are seeing tie-dye is in our basics. A graphic top or your classic crewneck sweatshirt like you see above are the best examples of taking basics and putting the tie dye spin on them. I think my favorite is this crewneck sweatshirt. It has such a subtle pattern and color that it isn’t too in your face, but still something different.

Who ever thought you could put the words tie dye and fancy in the same sentence?! Definitely not me, but our friends over at Anthro have proven me wrong with this stunning dress or blouse (pictured above). And they aren’t the only ones I’ve seen take a trend kind of known for its more chill/grunge appeal and put a high end spin on it!

One of my favorite things about Summer is all of the fun fashion! From trendy biker shorts and tie dye to classic t-shirt dresses and sandals, I love it all! I couldn’t keep it all to myself, so today I’m rounding up what I’m loving at Walmart right now in Summer Fashion!
Tie-dye is such a hot trend right now. We are seeing it everywhere from graphic tees to high end dresses and all the end between, but loungewear like this set is one of our very favorite ways to wear it. It adds such a fun pop to cozy look.

The summer shoe selection at Walmart is so good right now. My favorite find in shoes were these classic versatile sandals. I love that they are so easy to dress up or down and wear with just about anything. They also have some fun pops of pattern right now too with these fun workout shoes and these animal print slip ons. And last but definitely not least are these! I have shared here so many times how much I love my sandals like these because they can transition so well from pool or beach to evening and look flawless.

If you’ve been to Utah in the Summer, you know that dry heat can be so hot! And the last thing you want to do is get dressed in something heavy. That is why I live for dresses like this basic t-shirt dress as a staple in my summer wardrobe. It would be so cute style with sneakers and a baseball hat, or with these sandals. I thought this dress was so cute for a summery date night too!

Last but not least in our roundup is swim. You can’t talk summer fashion without mentioning swimming! Walmart is such a great place to go for classic swim looks like this one above, but their secret weapon is all the cute cover ups!! These shorts were my favorite right now, but this cute tank dress would be another great option!

:: FAVORITE SUMMER ACTIVITIES
I love Summer because there are so many fun things to go and do. Staying active is really important to me and something I love! My favorite thing my friends and I have been doing to stay busy is swimming or hot tubbing! Swimming is such a great way to stay cool during these hot days. Another thing we like to do is play basketball or pickleball. This is a great way for us to stay active but bring in some friendly competition. It has been so fun! If we don’t feel like going outside that day, we love movies or just hanging out.
:: FAVORITE SUMMER PRODUCTS
One of the products I’ve been loving most this Summer are Puravida Bracelets!! They are so cute and come in so many different types and colors so they go with everything. If you have a teen or are a teen you’ve gotta get them! They are super affordable too so you can stack lots.
Another product I am loving that is new to me is this Sunbum browning lotion. It is so great to help you get a good dark clean tan. My friends and I love it!

Summer is flying right by and we are just about into July!! July is one of my favorite months because it means plenty of sunshine, family time, and celebrating our freedom and this country we love so much! If you know me, you know that I love any excuse to match or coordinate with my people. And the 4th of July is the perfect occasion! While I personally like to steer clear of buying things that are super holiday specific, you can still match and feel festive with looks you can continue wearing all season! So today I thought it would be fun to give you some fun 4th of July fashion ideas for the whole family!
:: 4TH OF JULY LOOKS FOR TODDLER TO TEEN ::
Picking out coordinating 4th of July outfits for my kids is one of my favorite things! As you can see above, I try to stick to classic basics that they can still wear all summer long. But that when paired together give the festive look. You don’t need to go buy something so specific that they are only going to wear it once a year.
We all know Joe is not a fan of anything too over the top that could read as cheesy. Like with the kids, we usually stick to basics we can continue to wear but give a little 4th of July flare! Like you’ll see in both of the graphic tee options above.
You guys! 202o has been quite the year! I feel like I’m on a rollercoaster of what could happen next!! One of the results of Covid 19 was a lot of changes to how our summer looks. Like I’m sure is the case for most of you, all of our travel plans have been cancelled or postponed. To be honest, we were feeling a little down about it all. Summer trips and that special time with our people is something we really look forward to! So when Utah eased up the restrictions a little bit where we didn’t feel like we had to be completely homebound, we planned a last minute trip down to Zion Ponderosa Ranch and we are SO SO glad we did!! It is the dreamiest family friendly spot that gives you so many fun opportunities, but still has you feeling away from it all!

:: LODGING ::
Ok first up, lets talk lodging. They have so many different fun options so you are sure to find something you will love! If you are up for actual camping they have a few different options. They have some super cute “glamping” tents and wagons, or they have sites where you can bring your own tent or trailer. If you aren’t feeling the camping as much there are some small cabins around the resort or rental houses close by too. We stayed in one of the houses and loved it. They are great for families and sleep a variety of sizes depending on the house.

:: THINGS TO DO ::
Zion Ponderosa Ranch Resort is honestly the dream weekend getaway with your family! They along with their sister company East Zion Adventures have thought of everything to bring out the fun for toddlers up to adults and everyone in between. Some of them are free options when you stay at the resort, and some are paid activities.
:: JEEP TOUR
First up was the jeep tour. This is one of the paid activity options, but SO SO much fun for the whole family. They are so accommodating to fit the needs of your group, and make it fun for all ages. If you have smaller children, elderly, or even disabilities they are willing to make your ride fit the needs and adventure level of your group. We all loved it!
:: HORSEBACK RIDING
This was probably my favorite part, because I grew up riding horses with my grandpa and it brought back so many memories. Solo rider ability is based off of height. Hunter and Hayden were both able to go on their own, but Harper had an instructor that walked alongside guiding her horse. The 1 hour option was perfect for Hayden’s age and younger, but Hunter and I could’ve gone for the 2 hour and really enjoyed it. It is such a fun activity to let your bigger kids feel a little more independent and try something new. Price on this depends on the length of your ride.
:: ZIP LINE
This was a big hit for the kids, even little Harper!! Ability to try it is based solely on how brave they are. We saw someone as young as 2 years old do it! It is fairly inexpensive, and they also offer a night zipline option which sounds so fun!
:: SWIMMING
One of the no additional cost activity options was swimming and we loved it! They have 2 pools, 2 hot tubs, and 2 water slides that the kids thought were so fun. They swam and played for hours and loved it. It was nice to have a laid back option to have as a filler between the bigger adventures. I loved that around the pool they had showers and private dressing rooms so you are able to change right there. These are also accessible if you choose the camping options. They also have a little mini pond area where you can take kayaks out.
:: PLAYGROUND + OUTDOOR GAMES
Another fun thing the resort offers is a playground and outdoor games. I loved that they had the different outdoor games that my bigger kids could do instead of just your typical slide set. They had a giant connect 4, bocce ball, corn hole, and pool. It was so nice to have some fun games to play while waiting for dinner or between other activities. They also have a tramp like pictured above that the kids loved.
:: ROCK WALL
Like the zipline, the rock wall is inexpensive and based on your bravery level. Harper and Houston were able to try it out but weren’t really old enough to get very far. Hayden got about 1/2 way before her nerves kicked in but the bigger kids really liked it. I would just be sure to take in their bravery level when deciding if it is worth it for your people. My bigs loved it!
:: MINIATURE GOLF
This one was honestly the biggest shocker favorite for me! I normally hate mini golf, to be honest. So I wasn’t really looking forward to it but the kids begged to try it. And I was pleasantly surprised with how fun the course was set up. It was definitely a family favorite.
:: HIKING + REPELLING
Zion Canyon is such a beautiful place full of so many hikes and places to explore. The resort has the option to take guided hikes or go out repelling with them. Since we had the babies we weren’t able to try this out, but we are dying to go back and do it. Joe and I did escape for a gorgeous early morning hike on our own and it was so worth it.

I think that sums up our review and our love for our getaway to Zion Ponderosa! I think it is the perfect place to getaway for a 3 day weekend! 2-3 days gives you plenty of time to get all your adventures in without feeling too packed! Such a fun place we hope to visit again soon!

This past weekend over on Instagram I shared that Hayden and I were making our favorite Chocolate Toffee Pie for dessert. You guys, I can’t even begin to tell you how delicious it is!! And how crazy + easy too! We got the recipe from our friends and have been hooked ever since! It makes a perfect summer treat!
:: CHOCOLATE TOFFEE PIE
– INGREDIENTS –
Two packets of Graham Crackers
6 TBS Melted Butter
1/8 Cup Sugar
2 packages of chocolate instant pudding mix
2 1/4 cup milk
1 cup of Cool Whip
2 Heath or Skor Bars broken into small pieces
– INSTRUCTIONS –
For the crust:
Blend the Graham Crackers into very fine crumbs. A food processor works great for this.
Mix crumbs with melted butter + 1/8 cup sugar.
Take a layer of the the Graham mixture and press into the bottom of a glass pie tin to your desired thickness. Don’t make it too thick. Put this in the freezer for 5 minutes to help the crust harden. Repeat the same thing for the side walls of the pie crust. Once the crust is done put it in the fridge.
For the pie filling:
In large bowl (Kitchen Aid works great) mix together two packages chocolate instant pudding + 2 1/4 cup milk. Then the pudding mixes together, you want it to be fairly thick, not as runny as regular pudding.
Once the pudding mix and milk are combined, mix in 1 cup of cool whip. **Make sure it has been thawed prior to adding or your mixture will turn runny.
Mix in about 3/4 of your Heath or Skor bar pieces (you’ll need the rest for the top)
When your mixture’s completed, take your crust from the fridge and scoop the filling into your Graham Cracker Crust.
Whipped Cream Topping :
Mix real heavy whipping cream and whip until it is your desired thickness. Add 1 tsp of vanilla extract and powdered sugar to taste. Apply a nice layer of the whipped cream topping on top of your pudding filling, and sprinkle the rest of your crunched up Heath/Skor Bar on top!
