One of my favorite looks right now is mixing basic dresses with some fun sneakers! It’s such a simple and casual look that is perfect for fall + perfect for all you on the go mom’s. Check out my latest post where I share three tips on “How to Style Sneakers with a Dress” HERE.
I love this grey non-maternity dress (that is under $60)! It’s bunched on the sides which gives it some stretch for the belly (I sized up one size, yet it still fits great for those who are not pregnant. I love finding great non-maternity dresses that I can wear while pregnant and that can still work for after baby — because who doesn’t love to save a bit of money? And when you find a good basic staple you want it to last!! I also love these simple Nike’s that look great paired with this dress. It gives the outfit a fun + sporty look. Who else is loving the sneaker trend right now?!!
As you know, I’ve always been a huge fan of dresses + wear them constantly! They’re so easy to dress up or down and you can pair pretty much any accessory or shoe with them. With all of my pregnancies, I have basically lived in dresses. They have great stretch for my ever growing belly and I always feel comfy and not like I’m suffocating under lots of layers.
Lately I have been loving to pair my dresses with some fun sneakers. I love the look it gives by pairing the two because you get the best of both worlds: a sporty + girly look that’s perfect for on the go! I thought I’d share a few of my favorite tips on how to style your sneakers with any dress.
no show socks : Don’t even think about wearing a sock that shows!! That will ruin your whole look. I love these no show socks or sometimes I don’t wear any socks.
find the right sneaker : I personally like the less bulky sneakers + lightweight!! I love these ones and have them in black and grey as well. They are super lightweight and go with anything.
your dress : I think a few years ago there might have been limits on this…like don’t wear a sparkly dress + sneakers BUT at this years fashion week I saw so many women pairing sneakers with anything from flowy pleated skirts, to body-con dresses, to everything with sparkles. So I think the possibilities are endless!! As long as you feel comfortable and confident – GO FOR IT!!
I’ve gathered up some of my favorite maternity dresses that I’ve had my eye on and also some of the best sneakers– all from Nordstrom (because you know I love the free shipping)!! Happy shopping loves! And as always, thanks for stopping by!
So right now I’m currently looking for some nursery inspiration for the little one on the way. Crazy to think we are doing this again – so soon! Pinterest has been so fun to look at and I’ve seen so many nurseries that I am dying over – check out a few of my favorites I’ve pinned on my nursery board on Pinterest HERE. I’ve decided to share some of my favorite nursery pictures + ideas with you all.
I am loving this rug + am really in a need for a another crib for the baby since Houston is still in his crib. Two cribs. Ahhhh. This time I want to invest in a good rocking chair / recliner as well. I’m so excited to decorate this nursery with some pink, black and grey! Or that is what I’m thinking so far. With Houston, we didn’t find out the gender and did a gender neutral nursery, so this last time around it’s fun to know what we are having!
Some of my favorite stores to get inspiration from + look at nursery furniture are The Land of Nod, Pottery Barn Kids, and Nordstrom. What are your favorite colors for baby girls right now? Or if you have a great rocker/glider you love PLEASE share!!
xx – kails
This is what Houston’s nursery / playroom looked like. You can see more pictures + get direct links to all the items HERE.
I’m finally sharing our night at the pumpkin patch last week. We all had so much fun (even Joe) and there were so many activities for the little people to do. We try do get out and do something as a family at least twice a month and have a family night weekly. Just to stay connected and unplug from the world. You can see a bunch of the activities below.
So I’ve had a bunch of you ask what are some of my favorite staple pieces to buy for fall. So I thought I’d share my favoriteI basic staples for the whole family. For the little people I like to buy a nice pair of neutral colored booties (mainly for the girls) or a great pair of Hunter boots because they are so durable and can last forever! You all know my love for Hunters!!
I also like to get the boys at least one pair of good jeans because they are simple and can be paired with anything. Plus, you can dress them up or down depending on the outing. For myself I can’t go without a dark pair of black jeans that go with everything. This is probably one of my must have staples for women!! I wear mine weekly and now have a maternity pair too! Think black leggings – dresses up. haha. Everyone needs a basic stripe tee as well – I got mine here for $19!!
As for the men in your life….they all have such different style. For insensate Joe does not like to wear pants!! Seriously, I think he owns two maybe three pair and will mostly only wear them for date night. He lives in the most basic shorts and tees, and has always been this way. But truth be told he’s in scrubs every single day. Slowly I’m getting him to add a few more stylish pieces to the closest. Baby steps people, baby steps.
Now that Halloween is over (anyone else feel like that weekend lasted forever?) what are some of your favorite fall activities?! We are trying to get a bucket list together for November and I can’t think. I’d would love to hear your ideas — so please share!
Today I’m sharing the best beauty hacks ever!!! I’ve wanted to try out two beauty hacks for a while now and I finally got the courage and tried them a few months ago. Eyelash extensions + microblading. If you don’t know what microblading the definition is HERE. Also, I wanted to wait to share them with you all to see how much I really liked or disliked them. Both treatments are a moms (or any womens) best friend and they have made such a huge difference in the time I spend getting ready, or I not getting ready. haha. I feel like I hardly put any make up on lately because these make it look like I’m already ready to go and don’t have to do anything! You can see my FIVE minute makeup routine HERE.
I really did my researched for the microblading and went by word of mouth as well as looked through tons of before and alters before deciding on the right technician for me. I finally choose Mel with Allure Artistry as her work was amazing!! Seriously followed her Instagram months waiting for an “okay” before and after and NEVER found one. Every single client she had worked on — the results were amazing!! So I knew she was my girl. It took us quite a few months to arrange our schedules but I am so glad we made it work. Mel is based out of Salt Lake City, Utah but she does travel! Yay!
For all your questions about the process you can read here. It is not the most painful thing in the world — but it’s not the most comfortable experience. haha. But it was COMPLETELY worth it and I would do it again in a heartbeat!!
I’ve included her website: allureartistrycosmetics.com and email: hello@allureartistrycosmetics.com if you are interested or if you have anymore questions don’t hesitate to ask in the comments below!!
BEFORE + AFTER
(this was right after my first treatment…there are two and don’t mind the no make up. It was like 5:30 am)
Eyelash extensions — I’m figuring everybody knows what they are? Individual lash extensions for your eyelashes. For photo shoots for the past couple of years I have always put on fake eyelashes…like the three dollar kind at Sally’s. I loved the look it gave my eyes, but honestly who has time to do that every morning? Plus, after a few hours they would irritate my eyes. After feeling guilty about wanting extensions I finally put that aside and went for it. I figured I don’t get my hair done (because I do it myself) as well as my nails….most of the time. I am currently not going to the gym or am paying for a membership and anyways we all deserve a little pampering sometimes!!!
After asking million women and from word a mouth I finally found a wonderful technician!! She isn’t doesn’t do social media and is not online yet or I would link her here for you as well. My biggest tip would be – find someone through word of mouth!!! Look at their work online and ask their clients their honestly feeling. I have heard some scary stories of women going to someone they didn’t know or just found and that technician ruining their eyelashes. So take your time and look on IG as well!!!
In the end I am absolutely loving these two beauty hacks!! They have made all the difference in my mornings + how I feel. Because who doesn’t love to wakeup to eyelashes and eyebrows every morning?!! As always thank you for all your love and support here + I’d love to hear your favorite beauty hacks!!!! Please tell me below.
